Not sure how many, if any of you guys know who he is but Ian Corlett, was for a number of years the Chaplain at the Western Bulldogs (Footscray).
Unfortunately Ian suffered what appears to be a fatal stroke on Wednesday and is in intensive care but unfortunately it appears he will not recover. Ian is a fantasic man and I am sure if any of you had anything to do with him during his time at the Bulldogs you will agree he will be greatly missed. Our thoughts go out to his family and friends, both in Adelaide and Melbourne.

Thanks for letting us know Rusty. I must admit that I didn't know he was chaplain at our club for that long.

I really hope he can recover, but from what your post said, the news doesn't look good. :( Strokes can be terrible things. How old is he if it is not unpolite to ask?

I am not 100% sure how long Ian was the Chaplain at the Doggies for, I know he is good friends with Dougie Hawkins so it was a while ago.

Ian would be in his 50's. Far too young, his family has had some real hard luck!

I googled him to try and learn more about him. Some parts of the club I feel ignorant about.

I came across this fantastic interview with Terry Wheeler by The Coon dog(the poster here) on woof.net, and in it Terry Wheeler talks about Ian Corlett and the amount of help he gave to him and people of the club in the time that Ron James passed away. The amount of praise that Terry Wheeler gave him was incredible. Described him as "one of the greatest human beings to have graced the Earth". Must have been a really special person.

Great interview BTW TCD.

Condolences mate and to all Ian's friends and family.

That is really sad news. And so young too :( Commiserations to all his family and friends.

There are so many different people who make a football club what it is. Trainers, doctors, support staff and chaplains. Reading a bit about Ian Corlett, he helped a lot of people so you really have to admire people like that.

Well done by the Doggies on wearing the black arm bands and getting a win! I am sure Ian would have been watching and proud of his boys!

A wonderful man who has left behind a great legacy at a proud football club. To have known Ian is an absolute privilege. I hope the doggies can go all the way for the great man. Condolences to the Corlett family.

RIP Ian

A service for the late Ian Corlett was held yesterday at the Blackwood Chuch of Christ. approxiamately 500 people attended , we will not call them mourners for it was a day of celebration.
He was a great man, and will be sadly missed, the western bulldogs were well represented as was the broader community a testament to the person he was.
For those who dont know him , there will be an article in this saturdays age, those who knew him at the bulldogs respected him as there chaplain but he was just one of the boys.
Sadly missed , rest in peace Ian.

he was a fanatical lover of the doggies and great friends of my parents. had lots to do with orphaned kids and adoptions. was a great person and a fantastic family man. wish the corletts my sympathies
