One thing that really impressed me on Saturday night was the amount of defensive forward line pressure put on Port Adelaide coming out of defence. Farmer and Medhurst in particular have been much maligned in the past about their lack of defensive pressure in the forward line, allowing their opponents to damage us off the rebound. However credit where credit is due, I thought farmer’s defensive efforts on Friday were superb. His chasing really put pressure on Port coming out of defence and I remember at least 2 effective tackles which bottled the ball in our forward line. Saturday also marked the first time I think I've actually seen medhurst put in more than a token chase, especially when the game was there to be won in the third quarter. I thought that alot of our midfield dominance came from errors made by port players due to pressure while coming out of defence. Hopefully Farmer and Medhurst can keep it up next week, but the signs have been looking good early.
In other news I heard on Ten that Murphy, Dunn, Mundy and Campbell were on the verge of being signed for another 2 years.
