We have a dysfunctional forward line coached by a guy who has never played the game at the highest level no wonder it's not working. Spend some money from FTF to get a decent bloody forward coach Benny boy

It's actually that bad that they could do themselves a favour and sack the FL coach, have no one as a coach and let the players play without all the BS they have to think about. Tipping it would be a better set up, seeing as the way it looks now, its as if they dont have a coach. I mean WTF does this coach actually do? Ok, JR you lead deep to the pocket. If you cant, then prop 35 out and take on 2 or 3 together, in the meantime, all our crumbers should be positioned anywhere but where the contest is...this will make sure we are ready to defend the ball when the 3 on 1 goes their way...what a load of absolute shit...sack him ASAP whovever it is..

Again with the Williams blame! A fit Vickery takes a truckload of heat off Riewoldt. A fit King adds much needed pressure and locks the ball in. Tough to coach a forward line when the opposition know they simply have to stop Riewoldt and they're just about home. Recruiting isn't Williams' fault. It's not his fault Nahas has no left foot. It's not his fault one of his best mid-sized forwards is under club suspension. Sigh.

We need a big strapping CHF, they dont grow on trees and u need early picks i suppose or $1million
But when u get a chance to grab them U DO! Pav Buddy Darling

Our best games (win or lose) have been when Cotch, Dusty and Lids have been a resting rotation in the forward line. Opp teams just cannot match them up. So far Cotch 15, Lids 15 and Dusty 13 which is a fantastic return from your midfielders. Today they contributed - Cotch 0, Lids 0, Dusty 0. People hang shit on Jackson, but he is one of the reasons they can go forward. Will be interesting to see next week if those three can add the extra 3 goals that we desperately needed today.

At the end of the day, if we cant cover a couple of good ordinary players its not surprising the gap between us being good and us losing to the spooners is a millimeter.

If you don't mind me butting in, I think the forward line stocks are okay, but you are way too Riewoldt-centric. Riewoldt doesn't lead as much as he should and you end up kicking it in his direction in pack situations. Def need a second decent tall up there and def need to structure up better.

That's precisely the point though don't you think Cogga? Not Williams' fault that we lack depth.

The issue isn't our forward line, it's lack of depth and injuries, playing D grade players because we have no one else, we sub Webbs off because he's pathetic then we get 2 injuries. I agree that our FL is a worry but so is the whole team ATM besides 5 or 6 consistently good players

We also lack composure once in our forward 50. It's the smalls like Edwards and -despite his good game today-Nahas that seem to be the most consistent offenders, both try to do much themselves, Nahas inability to keep his feet and lack of a left foot often hindering his cause, along with the light easily tackled frames of both. Others also seem to make poor decisions or get into the wrong positions. We lack players who have a natural goal sense or are able to read the ball off the pack. When Riewoldt's not at the top of his game & taking contested marks we seem to have no-one else who can.

Right on the money Greggy and Harmichael. A middle of the road team doesn't need too many players missing to become mediocre. I thought all year we'd be stuffed if I. Maric ever missed. We desperately need another decent ruckman. A fit and strong Vickery will help but we still need another capable ruckman. I agree about Edwards and Nahas too Harmichael - they are handy but I reckon they sometimes seem to be trying to do too much because they desperately need to get to their right foot. Too many one-sided players.

the problem is teams flood the 50 in the corridor hence he cant lead into open space, therefore he has to stay near the square to provide a target. the problem is we dont have a second target at the moment to take a grab and we arent structured well enough to have easy entry sometimes and seem to need bombing long entries which when common are defended easily. so in the end with really no other avenues or course we are jack conscious, which by the way he does a great job with the attention he gets.

When we have dominated in the middle, and put in so much effort to get it inside 50 multiple times, the forward line is still completely dysfunctional. Especially against the Giants, Melbourne and GC in early stages of the 4th.

Oh dear.

Vickerys form/ injury has proven the need for a good 3rd tall up forward. Derickx, mcguane and miller are not the answer we need to put Astbury back up forward when he is fully fit and let post play out the season up forward to determine if he is worth keeping. Until astbury is ready I'd play Elton up there for more experience.

Derrickx definately could be the answer. He's played 2 games FFS. Took a nice mark yesterday and nearly pulled down a screamer too. Derrickx, Astbury, Elton and Post can all contribute well if given enough afl games

:D:D:DGotta laugh at this .... NEARLY. Hey Madness, Michael Laffy nearly restricted Warwick Capper to five goals and not 10, Aaron James nearly tore it up one day against the Bulldogs ..... nearly. In the world of AFL, nearly is nowhere near good enough. Derrickz, sadly, hasn't got it. Dished up another ordinary game!

I said he nearly pulled down a screamer. He's played 2 games btw not 42 games

Yep...and on last night's effort, he'll be flat out adding to his two games played.
Defend him all you like, dropping a regulation chest mark deep in the last quarter, turning it over and watching the Suns kick a goal cost us the game. Glad you accept mediocrity.

adelaide proved today you dont always need the talls to kick goals. we really need a rethink on our entries and cant remember many lead up easy marks in the 50. maybe a more pagans paddock on transition?

Not really fussed who it is CHF, or HF, we need a sharp mind with sharp skills who has us high fiving and not, and this is not a slow on Titch, he does his shit and we sing his praises on how he performs it, but he fails where it counts most, on the scoreboard and when we need that one goal, he produces a party trick and just blows games out of the water in a 10 minute burst. As i said in another thread we need a DR PINK NOW!!

Not that he is and not suggesting we throw the dice on an unknown, i am a bad judge sometimes, prefer we go out and throw the cash at a star, but if i were FJ i would be having a look at Brennan Stack who was discarded by the bulldogs. He is playing in the WAFL and kicking arse. Saw him playing in the VFL and couldnt believe how classier he looked than the rest. Dont know what went down with the dogs and it could have been home sickness. Home sickness can be cured if the contract sets you up...go have a look FJ, IMO the guy is a gun about to happen.

Our forward line has been bereft of options since r1....i thinks its more a talent issue than a coaching one....weve tried a few things with resting mids at ff...edwards has fired, quiet last night though...nahas is lively...king is rated internally for his hardness in the clinches i50.. Missing now.....id turn the attention to the recruiters in introducing some forward talent

Dont shoot the messenger, but a month ago Richo said we should go all out and get Sylvia. Said he would be itching to start fresh.
