I believe this deserves a thread because it seems to be a very damaging liability atm.

What has happened to it? It wasn't an issue at the start of the year but now it seems it's becoming more and more fragmented and there seems to be a lack of communication between the forwards. Too many times (tonight) I saw Brown and Dish go up for it oblivious to the fact that they were decreasing their chances of marking the ball. Last week I remember I saw Brown spoil a certain mark to Petrie.

Is it because of Waite's absence? Higgins? Are we too slow to get the ball down there or do we not trust our disposal? Is it our 6 day breaks? Injuries? Very confused atm. Don't know what to expect after the bye. Extremely worried.

Thoughts?

Our forward entry's consist of long slow bombs or hurried up and under kicks that achieve nothing. Waite and brown on occasions have been able to take contested marks. And when there is a one on one situation the kick is not to our forwards advantage. We don't transition the ball quick enough with enough precision to give our forwards even half a chance.

Stagnant run and zero overlap in our midfield coupled with a very out of touch group of talls ( bar Mason ). Throw in the depleted small forward options and you have what we have now.

We can't rely on Boomer to continually get it done and Lindsay has been hit and missed for the majority of the season & this has highlighted our deficiency on that front.

We need Drew out of there

We need more flexibility

We need to adapt to situations and try different s**t when plan A is toast.

Way to rigid and with our better smalls out the triple towers cant put enough pressure on...

This is a huge issue that has not been properly addressed. Unless we are Hawthorn and we use the ball very well, we will get absolutely get done on the rebound. Adelaide killed us in the first quarter with their intent to play on in D50.

Our flexibility is actually (admittedly) not as flexible as it could be. We do have injuries.

I'd like to see how Daw and Brown would do. Drop Petrie back or rest him.

None of our fowards lead to space and always engage with their defenders. Especially Petrie. Can't take a contested mark to save ourselves and our pressure has dropped off considerably without Garner/Turner/Anderson/Higgins.

Don't know how we will beat WCE without them. Especially on a long ground. We need runners and pressure players to keep it in there. Very anxious.

Drews ability to apply forward pressure has dropped off, as well as various other areas of his game. Which is why in my opinion he's done. The three talls should be Waite, Wood and one of Brown or Daw. Both Waite and Wood are capable of providing great ground level pressure and are both good at getting up to the wings.

With our best ball users out injured the forward entries have been pretty ordinary, but to be honest they have been for a long time anyway. Very few players lower their eyes and hit a short target into the forward 50. The plan seems to be kick it deep to a tall, which does work but some variety would be nice.

As for the smalls, the best ones are injured. An Anderson or Turner would be handy. Not sure how Garner slots into the lineup as he's not very quick and would probably be fighting for Woods spot to be honest

No way Drew plays another year. He has been a great clubman, but even if he insists on going on, the club should stand firm with a NO. Well passed it now.
If we retire Drew, would that give us any more significant cash to keep Wood?

Probably. But if Waite retires...

He is fortinate that we are a low profile club because look what happened to Cloke when he want getting a kick at Collingwood, Media ramp up the pressure and Bucks has to swing the sword, most of the people in the footy media prolly havnt even cottoned on that Drewy hasnt had a kick for weeks.
