Seriously though, I've read a bit about a few, how they came about, etc (including His Majesty Prince Leonard). I'm actually genuinely interested in the whole law/tax scenario and so on.

In theory, you just annoy the government till they give up because they can't be bothered anymore.

i had no idea what prince leonard was supposed to mean but i remember a segment on one of them crap current affairs show about a micronation in the middle of the outback. after doing some quick research on it i would suggest it was probably the one that this prince leonard dude looks after.

Pretty much. Micronations aren't officially recognised...anywhere, so you'll still be subject to any laws they choose to enforce.

Hutt River gets away with it mainly because the primary matter under dispute is tax, and it's just not worth the ATO's while to fight the matter out.

I think you would have a different issue if you started an unlicensed brewery and started thumbing your nose at the state LG&R Board and local council.
