I can not wait to see Atlanta play in the playoffs! Bring on Sunday.

Ill watch that game, just so I can see for my own eyes that Atlanta really did make the Playoffs

I think they can steal a game from Boston.

Crazy isnt it, even if we do get swept 4-0 it will still be great experience for the young guys in the team.

One thing I really hope is that they sell out Philips arena for this match.

i woudnt discount big Al horford for rookie of the year

its way harder for a rookie centre to average 10p and 10reb, than for durant to average 19 when he is the go2 guy IMO

Is it just me or has the NBA finals coverage been shocking so far?

If so
a) Why is this so?
b) Is it going to get better going further into the playoffs?

Looks like I'm going to have to post this again to put it onto the new page because history tells, people just wont look if it's not right in front of them. ;)

There are no games on Fox Sports.

All the games are on

This is ESPNs response to Mark, who wrote complaining about the coverage...it is the same crap they always write. although, I am curious about the increased coverage next year.

Hi Guys,
Took your advice from last weeks show and emailed ESPN International about the lack of NBA playoff action. Got the below reply that you might like to share with the listeners on Sunday...looks like there may be some light at the end of the tunnel...bad luck if you want to see Western Conference finals though. Keep up the good work, Regards Mark - Altona Meadows.

Hello, As a pay TV viewer I am extremely frustrated again this year at the lack of coverage of the NBA playoffs by ESPN. We in Australia only get to see 4 (yes 4) out of the 56 1st Round matches of the playoffs. As I have to pay extra for ESPN, I don't feel I am getting my value for money from the "worldwide leader in sports" I get frustrated when I cannot view the NBA playoffs because ESPN puts on baseball (which is great - but not when NBA playoffs are on) MSL, Spanish Soccer, Navy Motor X, womens billards & Worlds Strongest man. Even if we cannot get the games live, surely a reply sometime during the 24 hours is possible. I look forward to your reply, Regards, Frustrated NBA fan, Mark Melbourne, Australia

I dont see it as ESPN's fault at all, there is not a "lack of games" compared to the regular season, there are the same amount of games and there will be an increase towards the end of the playoffs. It's normal coverage they deliver all year.

Maybe you should point your questions at FoxSports who show no playoff games dispite showing regular season games all year. THat's why you're getting the feeling of a "lack of playoff action" imo, because you arent getting the FoxSports quota you're used to. Put in an extra 2 playoff games a week on FoxSports I'm sure there wouldnt be too many qualms at all. I wonder how much more it is to broadcast playoff games that they dont show them.

Does anyone know why Foxsports doesnt show playoffs? Did they show them last year?

I cant think of a reason except it costs them a bit more the poor souls.

Surely there can be no other reason unless ESPN has some kind of contract that it's the only channel in Aus allow to show it but that would be rare.

And no, they didnt show them last year.

Pfffft. Can't believe we get the shitty Eastern conf finals and no Western conf games. Typical.

I assume you are saying that because of the times ESPN have quoted?

The spread is already 2 West, 1 East.

Because it's subject to change, chief, they're all just set at 10:30 right now for a base time. As it gets closer those times will swivel around.

I would bet my possessions on the fact we'll see more West games than East throughout the playoffs, just the same as last year. And that's fair enough considering relative strengths of them but the absolute lack of East games last year was atrocious and just to get 2 of the conference finals of the East is bloody good compared to the blackout we had last year.

Chief? Ouch, clearly I've hit a nerve with you have I PR? So much so that you've decided to resort to the classic macho 'i'm better than you' names...

I was actually referring to the email that sjsdu quoted which says 'This year in Australia, we will have 4 1st round games, 4 2nd round games, the Eastern Conference Finals & the NBA Finals.'
See, I've even highlighted the important bit for you.

WTF, since when was chief derogatory and macho? Weird man, weird, no one has ever taken offense of being called Chief I've known, EVER. I call everyone Chief, and wouldn't being Chief mean you're better than me??

What was wrong with my post that you had to get up on your high horse? I was only talking from the history of what ESPN have shown, stated that all games they show wouldnt start at 10:30 so its subject to change and noted the dominance of west games last year.

Couldn't just have referred me to that email without being a w***er about it?

Chief, buddy, big fella, champ etc...
True you may be one of the 2% of people who can actually say these things without arrogant connotations, so maybe I jumped the gun. But I refer you to this thread to show you that I'm not alone on this one ;)

Anyway yes, the email was what I was referring to - so basically we get no Western Conference finals at all. But should be good for you as an Orlando fan :thumbsu:

Lol, maybe people are secretly pissed at me when I call them Chief and only occasionally Champ, not the other two, and I dont know it. :D Although only one person out of that whole thread doesnt like being Chief so maybe my ratio is ok. And the fact I dont try to use it in a condescending manner, just a name all the time.

I'm baffled they're all East games after all West conference games last year from memory. Why cant they get a good balance?

i think time difference could be a factor?

now the west coast is 7 hours ahead (plus 1 day of course), east coast another 3 (?) ahead of the west. espn prob want to put on games earlier here in Oz hence showing the eastern playoff games more.

i dunno, just my thoughts.

Maybe, but all year we've had mostly 11:30am+ games shown and now they decide now they want to show East games which will start at 9am, 9:30am or 10am depending on if it's Orlando, Detroit or Boston, which is earlier than we usually ever see.

Ah well, wont complain if it's all orlando games that are shown in teh slimish chance we make it. :)

I call people champ and cheif all the time. Never realised it was so hated

and yes like last year showing only Eastern Conference.

I think Fox (US version) has rights to the Western Conference.

And my theory blown out that most of the conference games shown were from the west last year.

However as Fox may have rights to the west it further solidifies the guess that FoxSports are just too stingy to pay the extra amount for playoffs.

I sure has hell hope they show most of the games from the (most likely) Boston V Cleveland series in rnd 2 ... Now apart from my own bias, surely that would be the most interesting match-up for even neutral fans in the playoffs ...
