Welcome Brennan Cox

AT 192cm Cox isn't going to really going to be KPD size unless he keeps growing - maybe more a flanker. At least he isn't skinny :D

I'm all for taking Logue, but I've been saying all year that we should take a kpf... Patrick Kerr was there for the taking and we took a defender... Alex Pearce, Sam Collins, Michael Johnson, Zac Dawson, Joel hamling, griffen logue, uubergang.... How many do we need?
After our shocking 2016 season.... I don't mind a freo getting a lot of tall defenders, especially when 2-3 were injured in on the sideline for long periods of 2016.

Me living in SA, Although I am A south Adelaide fan in the SANFL, I have seen Brennan Cox play both games for Woodville West Torrens vs South this season.

Plays like Harry Taylor. Plays ok in defence and can swing up forward for an occasional goal. I predict he will be a 10 year and 150 game player for us.

I know Sandi was rookie - he had a dodgy back and nobody else rated him.

This bloke won't get any shorter and looks a brute around the contest. He will need to drop some weight and improve his fitness but he could be a serious weapon around clearances. He looks like he palms the ball with both hands and has some footy smarts. Before we write the guy off maybe we let him have a pre-season.

Well KPPs take longer to develop compared to Midfielders. We will look back on this in 3-5 years time. It will either be a disaster like 2010 and 2012 drafts or be good as 2008 or 2011 drafts for us.

With us getting 2 key defenders in this draft, I am dead certain 1 will be a 10 year player.

More like try and ruin the club. We traded a future second for Sean Darcy.. Are people realising that?
We needed a young ruck. We cant expect Sandi to be competitive in a zimmer frame, and Zac has looked like his knees have been shot for years, Griff is getting long in the tooth as well. Take a valium and consider our list.

I expect to get another ruckman in our rookie list too...

I wonder how many people bitched and moaned when we picked up Sandi?
Pretty sure none of these whingers had internet privileges back then.
Adding Cox gives us more versatility in the back line. Hamling, collins fights for full back for the next couple of years and then one becomes depth behind cox. Pearce plays CHB for the next 10 years. Logue takes over from Johnson - backline interceptor, marshall and rebound 50 specialist. All three are quick of mind and off the mark.

Hmmmm. Most draft profiles have him listed as a defender.

Freo media team however are calling him a key forward.....
He played both this year. He was AA u18s as a KPD though. Another KPP sized guy from SA for us ;) I wonder whether we're looking at him forward or back? Surely one of our young KPPs needs to play forward now? I wasn't expecting him to last to our 2nd/3rd picks.
I think Freo will play better football with Cox In, as opposed to the alternative.
Is having Cox in our back line better than a Johnson?

Good pick up. We lost silvagni and Smith this year. Johnson and Dawson likely next year and bought in Hamling, Logue and cox this year on the back of Collins last year. Happy days. Uber and cox may swing either end of the ground.

The point is that nobody moaned about Sandi because he was a rookie pick that cost us nothing. The reason people are moaning is because we used a fairly high pick in the main draft on a ruckman when it's basically impossible to tell if they'll be any good for another 3-4 years yet. That's why most clubs tend to pick up ruckmen as mature age rookies. Like we did with Sandi.

Not saying it's a bad pick by any means but it's a very speculative one - ruckmen always are.

Gawn and Goldstein both went for picks in the thirties.

Tim English went for pick 19 ...

I think what kills people is that we picked up an unknown guy with a 2nd round pick. If we'd picked up English at 38 everyone would be celebrating. It's perceived value and risk that is throwing people

A 192cm KPP / utility from Woodville-West Torrens replacing (in a list management sense) a 192cm KPP / utility from Woodville-West Torrens who just so happened to be the greatest player in our club's history. There's a nice symmetry to that.
