Yeah, the right choices, there aren't a lot of options. Tomic hasn't played for a while, hopefully he's ready come RG time, even though this is just a learning expreience

Interesting to see how Olivia does as well considering she took bondarenko to 3 sets at AO.

Do wonders for Tomic if he could somehow snag another GS win. Hopefully he gets a favourable draw.

I doubt it, unless he manages to draw Blake

Yeah let's hope he draws the Flake.

But this is really exciting news! :) Hopefully Tomic is on a televised court so we can see him. Any GS matches at this stage are a bonus.

You know I've been thinking, during all the MS events it's kinda depressing not having any Aussies in there. Hewitt will play one here and there but he's lucky to win 1 or 2 matches let alone seriously challenge for a title. I remember the days when he was always around the mark but these days we don't even have anyone in the draw. Hopefully down the track Tomic is playing in the MS so we can have another Aussie to support and be proud of. :)

Yeah, it's disappointing to watch these MS events with no australians in there, love there to be 2 or 3 guys who could make main draw of these events one day would be good. But that's a long way from happening.

I honestly am confused by Tomic getting a wildcard (Luczak has one as well, doesn't he?). The kid hasn't played since the Challenger when he beat Klein - that was like February! He really needs to get some real good results over the next month to justify this.

There's an agreement between TA and the FFT (French tennis federation) so we exchange wildcards at our Slams, something along those lines anyway. And instead of having a wildcard play-off and having someone like Luczak or Smeets win (see Smeets' loss at RG last year...) we just decided to go for youth. :thumbsu:

Yeah, its definately disappointing. Unfortunately Tomic shouldn't be expected to consistently be in MS level main draws until his early 20s. We will definately get an idea of his potential over the coming years but definitvely we won't know for 3-4 years.

It's surely the right decision too.
No point giving it to the guys who have been around a while and have shown that they won't make it.
Give Tomic every chance to play tour matches.

Ahh, I thought Luczak had won a playoff in December of last year but I'm probably mistaken.

Probably the right move then, but it is worrying considering the lack of tennis he has played.

Pete hasn't really been having the results to get the WC anyway. If he was then that would make sense, but he hasn't been making challenger finals like he was a couple of years back

His only hope is to draw an American - Flake, Queerey, Fish and Rod-dick have all been shown to beat themselves at the French. If he draws Rafa............. he might win some points from Rafas double faults, but that will be about it.

I hope he does draw Rafa. It will be carnage, but he will gain more from the loss than any number of first round wins. A heavy loss will not destroy his confidence, but it will show him the difference between a champion and an also-ran.
