Never tried. I know there is some FTP clients available that run in dos. But, unless you don't have access to at least windows 95, why would you want to?

yeah,we did something like that in uni in first semester last year,ill have to go back through my books to remember it though:(

At the command prompt type:

ftp (ip address or www address)
<login>
<password>
help

Have a look at the help commands, you must make sure you are in the right more (ascii or binary) and then use the ftp commands to change into the correct local directory and issue the command put <filename> - to send files
get <filename> - to recieve files
use the regular cd commands to change directory in the dos window and mcd mdir etc to do directory commands in the remote ftp session.

thanks folks

i've worked it out ... needed to call a text script to get it to run out of qbasic ...

results will be sweet fa live commentary if anyone's interested, beta version currently running at http://www.lexicon.net/POTOC/livecomm.htm
