I would have Hudson

he averaged 5.59 goals a game, in 1968 (125 goals); 1969 (120 goals); 1970 (146); 1971 (150); and 1977 (110).

after amazing years in 68, 69, 70, 71, he had 8 goals before 1/2 time and done his knee, and Doctors were not the same as todays.

Coleman was the greatest ever and was finished at 25.

In 98 matches Coleman kicked a total of 537 career goals. He kicked 14 goals in a match on one occasion, 13 goals twice, 12 goals once, 11 goals twice, 10 goals six times, 9 goals 3 times, and 8 goals five times.

hard to split really.

lockett for sheer presence and the fact he was dead straight and the highest g/s of all time.
dunstall, all round ability and another "great worker". nothing magical about the way he played, just gave his all and had great hands and a lightning lead.
hudson, figures were amazing and to think he had 5 seasons out of vfl and came back and kicked another ton before doing his knee, should've been the highest scorer of all time.
coleman's stats were also incredible for a 98 game player, would've been the greatest if his knee didn't blow out.
mckenna was good, i had his number on the back of my jumper as a real small kid (early 70's)
lloyd doesn't look like he sits comfortably in this company.
coventry was the greatest for so long.
pratt, another legend.

too hard but if pressed, lockett.

Coventry (1299 goals) and Coleman (full forward for the Team of the Century)

The two greatest full forwards for the better part of the century not included but Lloyd is?

Did a 12 year old put this together?

That helps his average but doesn't it.. he never played as a veteran so his average is based on years in his prime and none on the decline.. same with Hudson.

Not to say they weren't absolute superstars but if you had your choice you'd be forced to pick someone with better longevity

I'd take Coleman in a heartbeat - knees can be fixed nowadays.

No guarantee he would have weathered veteran status as well as others though

If I wanted to win premierships I'd probably pick Dunstall.. McKenna and Hudson were very specialized to their era, Lockett like Hall was just as likely to be suspended when you needed him most and Lloyd is a joke inclusion

Maybe an incorrect inclusion, but 920 goals is hardly a joke.

Coleman finished at 25, I dont think anyone seen his best, yet all those who seen him say he was the best they have ever seen, some say if Ablett was the best and Coleman was better, how do you paint a picture.
but who cares what you think, at the end of the day Coleman is full forward in the team of the century, and the goal kicking medal is named The Coleman Medal! many still say greatest ever player.

Ok more ludicrous than a joke, McKenna is in there when Collingwood's greatest full forward was Coventry and Lloyd is in when Essendon's greatest full forward was Coleman.. nup right the first time, gotta be a joke!

You do obviously :p

At the end of the day Coventry and Lockett kicked almost 3 times as many goals as Coleman and Hudson has a superior goal kicking average

Leading goal kicker for the year

Dick Lee: 10 years (coll)
Coventry: 6 years (coll)
Coleman: 4 years (ess)
Lockett: 4 years (stk/syd)
Hudson: 4 years (haw)
Wade: 4 years (geel)

Just sayin

I stand corrected.

Lockett - was a power house of the comp even in poor teams.

The flogs naming Coleman need to have a look at themselves - 1. 98 games - longevity in the game has to be a factor 2. Unless you are 80 you never saw him play - just because your Great Grandmother said he was the best counts for little. It is like the storey of the 30cm flathead she caught in 1950 that has now turned into a 400kg Marlin over time.

5 league goalkicking awards, average of 5+ a game, best and fairest, 2 flags.
He did plenty.

Utterly unsurprising it's not Coventry, nor Wade or Lee you've taken issue with; but Coleman.
I think you need to see someone. You've got a fixation.
