G Ablet Jnr - Captain

As an outsider, and neutral in all things Geelong, I really believe your Club should name Gary Ablett Jnr your Club Captain next year.

He already shows leadership qualities on the ground and being young as he is, he will grow into the role comfortably as he matures.

He has the qualities of a Captain, passion, love of the Club and he leads by example, that will take you through the next 10 years.

Our Captain, Michael Voss, was named Captain at a young age along with Stepen Kernahan and they turned out alright.

He just seems 'made' for the position.

He might be captain one day, but Cameron Ling is definately next in line.

Would be captain one day if Lingy didn't stand in his way.

Not a fan of public appearances though which could be a problem but from a club point of view he would be fantastic.

No , the next Captain will be Ling but considering our record of Captain injuries the next Captain should be Jame Rahilly.

Ling can handle the other stuff more comfortably at this stage athough through thru no fault of his he hasn't got a good head for promotion. Ablett , although he can handle himself infront of a camera , he tends to look a bit gun shy, not really at ease.Who can blame him with the history he grew up with. No let him progress at his own pace. Be a leader but dont pressure him to do the media stuff untill he wants to do it.After all if Scarlett and Milburn dont get pressured to do it then why GAJ.

Voss is the total package. Although a blood nut he has that checky grin of a naughty boy, projects the image of the straight down the middle bloke.On field plays it tough , can actually hurt people which I think a top player must be able to do.Can play hurt and plays well in big games. Is an inside and outside mid, can play down back to save a match or up forward to win them.Is a Captain, does the off field stuff and projects a good image for Brisbane. Maybe hes the type of player that Mathews was although Mathews was probably better. I cant remember him at his best but he is alway mentioned as a bench mark.Voss is the only player that I would say was better than GAS because he is the total package, close enough on field and does the other stuff as well. Not only a future Hall of Famer , a future Legend. O how good he would have looked in the hoops , enjoy him players like are very rare.
