Anyone who has had anything to do with GW would agree, total professional who realises his horses are his livelihood & treats them as such.
Seriously, its getting to the stage where the stewards are simply bowing down to the radical fringe.
Youd think they were there to protect punters as well yet Gavin gets Tsunami Sloy beaten at $1.10 in a $2K Kilmore restricted then 5 days later wins a $20K 3yo feature.......
not even 1 line in their report on its improved performance.
seth
I noted that as well, check the Stewards Report from Kilmore which indicates an adjourned inquiry into the performance, there has no update on the result of that as yet.
This type of thing kills you from a punting perspective. I remember a shocker a few years back at Stawell where a horse first up from NZ with panels on the opposition started $1.80 and was not put into the race by a driver from a leading stable. Flashed home late after being given no chance by the driver. Stewards inquired and where told the horse appeared only average. Next start it goes straight into the Bendigo Guineas and starts only $5 when up against some really nice horses, driven like it was Popular Alm - 3 wide for a long way before tiring to finish 8th. The money was on.
No surprise it then dropped back to normal grade and won three straight.
If it smelt to me and I'm just an average joe blow then why didn't the Stewards smell it.
Drugs aside, this type of thing is IMO the most damaging to the game.
Some large penalties around at the minute should put a few on notice.
