Gamble, Taylor & Blake

All the listed players were good. Ridiculous that Taylor was available for Geelong to take in the draft considering so many teams need big defenders.

Thats also what i said when we took Egan at the end of the draft right after he'd been named at FB in the VFL team of the year. I mean he just spent the year wiping the floor with every teams future forward hope. Too bad for everyone else i suppose.

Although in other clubs defense that early in the draft they are looking at 18 year old key forwards and future 200 game midfielders knowing they can convert U18 forwards to defenders if need be.

True but still. This bloke is not 22 yet and more AFL ready experience and body wise than any 18yo could hope to be. I can't believe a team like the Bulldogs (especially this team), Hawthorn or Collingwood did not snag him. Melbourne, Carlton, etc inclined to look at slightly longer term prospects but still considering what I have seen of their respective back lines this year they would kill for Taylor.

A 21 year old can still be around for 10 years. Blinkered thinking to just pick 18 year olds.

Taylor will probably be in/out of the side for this season once Egan comes back, but now that Harley and Scarlett are getting on in years it is good to know that he's on the list. Harley will possibly pull the plug at the end of next year, I think his hip and knee problems have shortened his career expectancy somewhat, and he's such a team player that he'll step aside when someone proves to be better than him anyway. Could even see him going VFL list for a year or 2 like Bluey did, to help develop the next lot of kids.

The winner must be under the age of 21 at January 1 of that year, must not have played more than 10 games to the start of that season and must not have been suspended by the AFL or State League tribunals during the season (as with the Brownlow Medal, players found guilty of certain offences and fined or reprimanded by the Tribunal remain eligible to win the award).

He turned 21 in June last year so he is not eligible.
That would make Gamble eligible! :thumbsu:

All were awesome thats for sure. Had we snagged Scotty Thompson from north our KP posts would have been set for many years to come.

Mackie - Taylor - Scott Thompson
Rooke - Egan - Wojinski

Could just imagine that developing into something we have now. That being said i can see Wellsy pulling another one out of the bushes and us still having a rock solid defense.

I actaully think that Taylor will replace Egan in our team.

I think Wojak and Rooke will retire before Scarlett. Wojak is a year younger but once he looses a yard of pace he will probably retire. Rooke is 2 years younger but playing like a mad man doesn't lend itself to a long career.

I'd be looking at:

Mackie Taylor Enright
Hunt Egan ?

You'd have to say we are a first class defender short still. It's still 4 years or so away though.

it is a bit early but donohue looked not bad in the vfl on saturday, so if he were to improve over the years he could develop into a very solid back pocket.

one of the midfielders might move there when older ie mcleod style

or we could be looking at the evolution of a younger midfielder ie Adam Donohue or Djerrkura?

well done last weekend.
Whats going to hurt more than the big win your going to have against the dee's is the fact that your going to have so much young talent on display. that the dees can only dream of atm.
Cant wait for rd5 clash against the saint my gf is a cats supporter and we go every year, was hopefull of a win this year but after last week not so confident any more. A Blake King dual will be interesting!

Bit of a hidden agenda here sorry guys. Im a supercoacher and i thought this would be the best place to get the inside word on Hary Taylor looked unbelievable on the weekend, With Egan to come back in at some stage how long do you see Taylor holding his spot?? any help would be much appreciated. Coould just PM me if you like.
Cheers guys.

I don't think Taylor will be in for much longer unfortunately, but somebody has to make way to Mackie and Taylor was the one that replaced him in the first place.
