Game of the year! St Kilda Sydney

What a great game, it was very low scoring, plenty of courage. What a fantastic game of footy! Nick Riewoldt take a bow, hat mark was the match winner and far out just brilliant!

7.10.52 St Kilda to 7.8.50 Sydney

Nick Riewoldt BOG, Matt MAguire very close. Great game of footy, the Saints are a quality side :thumbsu: Sydney were great in the last half but not enough. It was sloppy, it wasn't pretty but Godamn that was a fantastic game of footy, Luke Ball will be ok as well, great news! More on Monday thanks!

Saints deserved that. No doubt about it. They lose their captain and Voss and still get up to win.. That's got to be one of the best victories in recent memory for saints fans.

Swans played dumb footy and I was amazed we even got that close.

Re: Game of the year! St Kilda Sydney

Really great game, but IMO MM was best on ground. Its not an easy thing to keep BBB down to pretty much nothing in a whole game. He was also great when taking marks in the defensive 50, and rebounded well. Not to mention leading BBB away from the goals alot. Great game by him.

Re: Game of the year! St Kilda Sydney

Good loss for the Swans.
Will teach us we can't play one quarter of football a game and win (at least all the time).
Should be a useful wake-up call.

BTW did anyone else get a laugh out of Tim Lane (in the last quarter) constantly talking about last years preliminary final and the 56-53 result--could it happen agian. Wrong game Tim, that was the semi.

Great game...not that I was able to watch it living in Adelaide. Listening to it over the net. Hope the injured saints players are ok. Bit upsetting that our winning streak has finished but perhaps we needed it..not taking anything away from the saints tho :thumbsu:

My heart was in my mouth at the end there... had a BAD feeling about the outcome. Thank god the siren went when it did.

Was it just me or was the umpiring kind of, well, bad?

Thank goodness the Saints won, can't believe it really, with all their injuries before and during the game..

Bloody umps with those deliberate out of bounds......no consistency

Yeah at the start of the game the umpires would pay Holding the Ball for anything then slackened off a little bit. Ah well, glad they didn't pay delibrate at the end because i hate when games are decided by umpire decisions

And heree i was thinking i wastching the replay of last years semi final. Did anyone else think they were suffering from a case of deja vu when it went over the boundary line with a packed sydney forward line and not much time left?

Too bad no Jason Ball

The Saints played the conditions better than the Swans tonight. Got to admire the Swans never-say-die attitude though, but the Saints were far too good in defense and deserved the win. Although i think had the weather been dry it could of been different. :p

Great win Sainters!!!

Hope that Lukey Ball is ok.

That first quarter really hurt us, but your defense was far too good.

Hopefully The Saints can go on with it from here :thumbsu:

Stick it up those croweaters next week fellas!

Hmmmm I missed the game so I don't know but I wonder how people can be calling this potentially game of the year when there was only 14 goals kicked in the entire game... Must have been lots of hard, contested footy - annoyed I missed it now. :(

So far...good game of footy I reckon

A great finish and the best side won. Nick Riewoldt you superstar.
was at our game obviously, hopefully catch the replay tomorrow, otherwise ill have to rely on the replays in 'the winners' tomorrow night.

What a last 5 minutes, really capped off a good, hard match of footy from both teams tonight.

I knew the Swans would come back hard in the last term, i would have been devastated if they pinched it! certainly had me on the edge of my seat...

Good, tough match, in very wet conditions, lots of courage displayed by all players on the field, all capped off by a late surge (semi final last year) from the Swans and a match saving Mark from Reivoldt 20 out from the Swans goal...

great match. :thumbsu:

What I liked about it is it wasn't a low scoring game induced by ugly "basketball" tactics. It was a good hard game of footy, and they're usually good these days in the wet. They're pretty rare unfortunately, another great wet weather clash was the game last year between the Bombers and West Coast :thumbsu:

Great result to hold off the rampaging Swans in the final minutes.

Wow, I just got home from the ground and I'm amazed to read this. At the ground (I'm still soggy) I thought the Sainst came out harder and the Swans were right off the pace. It's good for the Swannies to learn that they can't always rely on stealing a win. But the game must have looked better on TV than what I could see through the deluge.
