Just wondering which websites people follow for game news. I look at Kotaku daily but they seem a little slow and the American articles are rubbish. I do like the Australian side of it though.

Looking for some suggestions!

Thanks.

I will check those out, thank you.

Also, I was hoping for some discussion on the matter. Some opinions on which sites are decent and which to avoid. If not, I guess I'll just try some out and see what I can find.

All of the one's mentioned are pretty good.

In terms of finding gaming news you're best using IGN/GiantBomb/VG247/CVG. Using those will cover just about everything you want.

IGN and GiantBomb are the mainstream stuff.

IGN are decent on the breaking news scene and generally have good sources. Their reviews are more digestible than other sites so it's generally the go to place for review looking/comparisons. The Daily Fix is again there for a digestible version of what's gone on around the traps on any given day. Generally want to stay away from their previews though, although of late they've been getting harsher, IGN are notorious for not bagging out a game in previews/hands-on and then giving it a terrible score on release.

GiantBomb have improved a buttload since getting Patrick Klepek in to cover all mainstream news. So now they match or beat IGN to the punch, plus they have a far easier to manage site IMO. Plus if you want to get an idea on how good games are going to be, their Quick Looks simply cannot be missed. A mix of hilarious observations as well as just a good look at almost every game. I do not miss a single one.

VG247 and CVG will tend to cover EVERYTHING. So while they have a great amount of articles and news, it can be tough to filter through what is actually worth looking at. So that's kind of where you go to an IGN/GiantBomb and find what is decent.

Cool. I forgot to ask about a decent games forum. What is the community there like?

Mature, for the most part. Its notoriously hard to get a registration to go through (sometimes up to 2 years, if at all), and they ban trolls very quickly. Lot's of dev's post there as well, so you can ask them questions directly, which is nice. As I said, most news hits there before any site does.

Neogaf forums are the best place for news. News hits that board before any website posting.

Regular new gaffer here :thumbsu:

I'm still a junior there and cannot for the life of me figure out how to put up a avatar. Do i have to wait till i become a reg or what?

+1 for NeoGAF as well.

Go to User CP > Edit Avatar (on the left hand side) > Browse > Save Changes.

Rockpapershotgun.com is great for PC stuff as well. It's more like a blog, but its a high quality one.

IGN are generally biased with game ratings.

QJ is generally pretty good, as is computerandvideogames.

How are they biased, or more accurately how are they more biased than any other reviewers?

1UP.com is pretty good too.

Am I the only one who still reads gaming magazines?

Usually get one of Hyper or Game Informer.

Read/watch IGN reviews.
