Can not get enough of this guy love watching him every week and seems to have stepped it up another level this year, the first player we have had since his dad that I focus on more than our other players just because Im amazed by the talent that he has. His ability to stand up in a tackle and then thread a handball to the right position is amazing. I think its safe to say boys we have a star in our team something that we have been lacking for a few years and a player that I think will be a game winner for us on many occasions.

agreed he could be a match winner. I have only watched half the weekends game but was actually quiet impressed with his brother also. Was unlucky not to have already bagged a few. Not outstanding but looked good.

Gary is a couple of performances shy of turning into an elite player of the competition. The boy is a star and his footy smarts are second to only the great man himsel.fHis abilty to apply pressure through tackling and harrasing is something his father never had. The boy is simply brilliant. Best hand skills in the league by a long way.

As for Nathan, each week the kid gets better. I thought he was fantastic on the weekend. He presnets well, great leading mark, strong for a 20 year old in contested situations and has a brilliant footy mind for reading the play. My only critism is his leg speed off the mark. He like Ottens, looks like he is not pushing hard, however i believe that is not the case, i feelthis is his running style. Many people say he is slow, but i think he is quite quick once off the mark, it's his initial reaction (over the first 20m) that requires work. The boy is going to be a very good footballer.

When Gary Ablett Snr was playing I used to follow Geelong pretty much as my second team just because I used to love watching the bloke play. Gary Ablett jnr is now doing the same thing to me and I find myself flicking over to the Cats to watch his class. Nathan Ablett gets thrown in as a curiosity factor for me as well. How good would it be to see Nathan kicking bags of 7 and junior a lazy 4 with NAB receiving lace out passes from GAJ.

Its great stuff for your team, you'll find that you'll get a legion of "Geelongs my second team" out of this and bums on seats becuase of GAJ especially and NAB also to some extent.

Thanks chipper.

That makes a welcome change from morons spouting "GAJ is over hyped because of his old man" and ditto "NAB would not get a game if he was not an Ablett"

There are a lot of people who follow other teams simply because of one or two players. I love watching Melbourne for Aaron Davey, Pickett, Robertson and Yze. I also like watching the Bulldogs for the way they play and Carlton because of a family connection.

He really seems to have come of age this year. Last year and the year before we'd see glimpses of his presence and brilliance, but he still hadn't matured enough to handle the constant tagging, scragging and pressure that his couple of dozen games earnt. Now he seems to have grown in stature, his kicking for goal has improved despite the odd few glitches, and his ability to stay on his feet and lay the ball off - or escape a tackle and score a goal - is phenomenal. And, I think with his brother in the team he'll only get better.

I was impressed with some of the things Nathan did on the weekend - he was unlucky not to score at least two goals, especially with that first effort that clipped the post. He has very good awareness, just lacks a little bit of the polish necessary to finish it off, and he certainly looks a good mark and a pretty big presence up forward. Once the midfielders get used to him up there and continue to target him more, he'll just keep improving. The signs are good, even though he hasn't dominated on the scoreboard yet.

When I was watching the Freo game there were times when GAJ made me think of GA. Especially from behind, his body shape is becoming very similar to his old man. I kinda feel Nathan is not far away from kicking a bag of goals. He looked good last week and all he has to do now is start putting a score on the board.

Definitley agree is getting the famous hunched shoulders that his father had

I thought exactly the same thing during a few scenes from the Cats match last weekend. Its kind of weird that a few of just noticed this from the game just been. He's getting that really thick set frame that Snr had. Turning into a real powerhouse. Opposition better start hoping that he doesn't get his old mans insatiable appetite for doubling as a wrecking ball - his effort on Wirrpunda was very Snr like.

Great thing for us Jnr fans is just that, he's young and we've got a lot of great footy from him to look forward to.

So it isn't just me who thinks GAJ is becoming more and more like his dad...

Nah mate. You are not alone on this one. It's is starting to become scary how similar they are.

I think richmond will really start panicing soon!

Give him room in the goalsqure on his own. He is white hot take advantage of this

I dont think he should be playing out of the goalsquare. As much as he is starting to look like his old man, his skills are to good to be wasted in the fward line. He should be used up the gnd and swapping on the flank/pocket with Chappy for a break. Use his strengths to our advantage and thats what the other boys said, the ability to keep his feet, break tackles and give effective handballs, get him in the guts and play like a Sam Mitchell. Let NAB develop up forward he is still learning his trade but he is starting to look good.
