One good thing about today's hiccup is that I was prodded into action on getting you_idiot and ScouseCat set up as moderators.

Any chance of getting a mod for the basketball board?

We have a good group of guys over there, but with the amount of traffic we get (post wise), some tidying up is often needed.

Not at all, I don't see any reason why any regulars on here need to do anything different. This is a great board already with plenty of good discussions about our football club, the only difference is we now have 2 moderators who will have this board's best interests at heart.

On a personal note, I have decided to ditch posting with my various aliases from this point onwards. It has been good fun but all things must come to an end. It is time to move on, and I'm looking forward to my new role on this site.

If anyone has any ideas or anything they think will improve the quality of this board and make it a better place to post, please don't hesitate to drop either William or myself a line, either via email or PM.

Seriously, I'll echo what Darren said. This is a great forum, and one of those that's the better-behaved ones on BigFooty, so we may actually have very little to do in the way of enforcing the peace around here.

And our job doesn't have to be one of a negative perception, either. Darren and I talked about it this evening, and we will offer up positive feedback for those who post well and offer up new and interesting threads. We will promote positive reinforcement around here, that's for certain.

As far as the trolls and snipers are concerned, we admittedly don't have that great a problem on this board with that. But whether they be friend or foe, we will endeavour to treat everyone fairly, and they will be dealt with in due course, trust me on this (which, I recall, was one of NakedDeadGuy's pleas when he started the related thread discussing the very need for some new Geelong board moderators some months back).

Darren and I can take direct action if any objectionable actions happen on this board, and we can have an input for those that happen on other boards.

In any event, I am really excited about this new endeavour-- and if anyone has any suggestions about what we can do to keep this forum the best damned Geelong board in the living universe, do not hesitate to drop either Darren or myself and e-mail or a PM and let us know.

I'll answer this for Darren... actually, we have. That was one of the conditions in which he had to perform in order to help out with the moderating. (Actually, it was more of a suggestion rather than a condition set out by Adrian, but you catch the drift.)

Darren asked me about that as we were contemplating our decisions, and I told him that I felt that as long as it's for the greater good of our purpose on these boards, the aliases have to be retired.

So that means no more Bracksy, no more Richie Benaud, no more Homer, et al...

As he said, it was fun while it lasted, but now we can get on with our new roles here.

And besides, who needs a "Bracksy" alias when you've met the real thing, huh?

Thanks, Suz. I'm sure that factor will help me out here, but the fact that I love this site and care about it quite deeply, that cannot be overshadowed, either.

Also, let's not sell Darren short, either. He's come into the dual role at the same time as I have, and his support is just as loyal as mine, if not moreso. And he wants to see this forum continue to prosper as well.

Still here Suzi. No idea if I was banned or not yesterday. Care factor = 0

I am about 4500 posts off any sort of consideration for moderators positions. Again, carefactor = 0. I have other interests anyway besides being a internet policeman.

Good work though you_idiot and Scouse, you have certianly earned your positions. Enjoy the ride!!

That's ok then. For a minute I thought that you were banned. We had some hackers in overnight and they went crazy and banned many ppl.
