Some would say minor hiccup but hear me out....

Yes, we lost Neeld to Melbourne, however, it will have little effect on a Premiership winning midfield with plenty of motivators around.

GFs (assuming favs win this week) can be won or lost with a % either way.

I think Sanderson is a huge loss to first year coach Chris Scott in the coaches box. I know Scott has been there before as a player but, wow, losing your right hand assistant could be huge.

If you don't agree with me at least we are even on losing assistants. Let's hope the Saints don't rip Watters from us GF eve.

I think most players are fairly well drilled and most teams have other staff members who know what goes on, but you're right in a way, for a 1st year coach to lose one of, if not the most experienced assistants at the club, it could leave a hole, especially in a pressure situation.

I think both clubs will be fine however.

Despite how people say good players can coach themselves, it has to make a difference with your coach missing.

Perhaps not so much if all happens to be going well, but where things are not going so well, that is where the loss will be felt with Neeld missing and similarly Sanderson with Geelong.

Should we both get through to the GF, at least that puts us on a level playing field, assuming we don't lose Watters aswell.

Maybe Hinkley will be Saints coach anyhow., or maybe they'll take a another week or so to name whoever it is.

Healy and Roosy on "On the Couch" were hinting strongly that Geel would ask Sanderson to serve out his remaining contract with the Cats before taking up duties with Adelaide.

Sounds strange if true.

Well, at least it's not just us.

But people are overstating losing Brad Scott.

I think everyone forgets losing Pendlebury like 5 minutes into the St.Kilda final, which we only ended up losing by 4 goals, and even Rocca was playing horribly underdone.

We weren't up to St.Kilda or Geelongs level yet in 09. Brad had little to do with it.

Having said that, Buckley should be the step in.

Brad Scott asked Sanderson to stay for the finals period.

Chris is the coach of Geelong.

If you were Adelaide, you'd have to be pretty upset if the coach you've just head-hunted opts to stay with another club, rather than addressing 100% commitment to the new club in building relations with the staff.
Mark Neeld echoed the sentiments well in his recent first presser.

Sanderson has already left Geelong. Scott preferred he finish out the year, but not gonna happen.

The Age

I'd say we're even now.

I think Geelong's players are so experienced they already more or less coach themselves.

I don't think it'll make much of a difference.
