This was the team V the Kangaroos

B: Corey Enright, Matthew Scarlett, Andrew Mackie
HB: David Johnson, Matthew Egan, Darren Milburn
C: David Wojcinski, Jimmy Bartel, Mathew Stokes
HF: Paul Chapman, Cameron Mooney, James Kelly
F: Tom Hawkins, Nathan Ablett, Gary Ablett
FOLL: Steven King, Cameron Ling, Joel Corey
I/C: Mark Blake, Brent Prismall, Joel Selwood, Travis Varcoe.

Problem here, we have too many players who are the same, meaning they play similar roles.

Take out your obvious ones like Chapman, Scarlett, Milburn and co and the other players are of equal value. Geelong needs to look at players who play differently but can work well in a team.

Also there are too many Geelong players not wanting to take risks, to take on another player from the opposition. Is it because if they stuff up, they'll cop a blasting?? When my boys take on the opposition whether it comes off or not I'm glad they had a go.

It also seems a lot of Geelong players become contempt once they put in 1 or 2 efforts, or are in front...you can see it from the stands. And as for forwards not kicking a big enough score, they are not the only ones who need to be kicking goals.

Plenty of mids aswell mark inside or on 50, unless your on a really tight angle, then they should have a shot instead of mucking around with it inside 50.. this is why we have more F50 entries than any other club.

OUT: Mackie, Blake, C Ling, Varcoe
IN: Rooke, Tenace, S Johnson, Ottens

Blake cant kick, simple as that, we cant affrod to have him in the team

And your team is? But you're right the whole way through. It has been said more than a few times though.

Not taking injuries/suspensions into consideration...

B: Corey Enright, Matthew Scarlett, Matthew Egan
HB: James Kelly, Tom Harley, David Wojcinski
C: Brent Prismall, Paul Chapman, Jason Davenport
HF: Darren Milburn, Cameron Mooney, Steve Johnson
F: Tom Hawkins, Brad Ottens, Mathew Stokes
FOLL: Mark Blake, Gary Ablett, Jimmy Bartel
I/C: Nathan Ablett, Joel Selwood, Andrew Mackie, Joel Corey
EMG: Travis Varcoe, Josh Hunt, David Johnson

Some reasons for my selections:
Teaching Enright and Kelly to become more accountable, talented players and can no doubt become very very good for the club.

Centre line has a bit of aww about it, stong in an unders and skillful in Prismall and Chapman, and someone who loves takin on the opposition in Davenport.

Rucks have our No.1 ruckman and our 2 best players in the centre.

Don't get to many ressies games but would like to see West, Grima, Callan, Djerrkura, Tenace and Rooke force some of those players out.

You want to drop three of the better players from last week?
Rooke will play half a game in the Vfl if he's lucky.Agree with the other 3
Out:Gazza inj, should not have played last week, they never learn.
Hawkins needs to regain some confidence and needs more game time fitness wise.
Enright needs to be taught a lesson, too lazy and sloppy.
Kelly needs to sharpen up his mind, and regain some touch.

their supporters they clap them off even tho they lose give them a bit of stick and they might come out fired up for the next game. The supporters are too easy on them always blaming the coach.
If they stay off the grog and stop trying to run the show at lambys and homo house that might help too think they run the show down there.
Why doesnt the Geelong bloody advertiser have 10 pages on them when they lose.
The back page headline after they lost the semi final for the pre season was Big Deal we lost thats a joke there is your problem there it is a big deal you should have beaten them with your list but they didnt oh well back to Lambys pour their own drinks cos they play for Geelong.

he did want to drop 3 or of the better players from last week, Ling, Varcoe & Mackie, were the good players from that group.

Blake was useless, chopped up by McIntosh around the grounds, and in the ruck he couldn't get the ball to our mid-fielders.

and pu**ies they are it would be either that or a lemon lime and bitters ya know cos they are big men and all.
feel sorry for a kid like selwood having to try and play consistent good footy in that environment, but the supporters will clap him off if he has a bad game.

Bit harsh tarring all Geelong supporters with the same brush as those old f**ts who sit in the Brownlow stand and clap them off no matter what. Sit down the back of the Doug Wade stand, or in the outer, and you won't see any Geelong fans clapping them off after a loss. Unfortunately, as is the case with most clubs, just because a minority of supporters react in a certain way, the rest of the fans are guilty by association. I'm sure not all Collingwood supporters are bogan thugs just because a few of them beat up those fast food vendors at the MCG after the final against the Doggies, nor are all Geelong supporters accepting of mediocrity just because some of the blue rinse set clap the players off after a loss.

Spot on and thats the problem with the Geelong footy club its up to you and other supporters like you to change things around there.

Rooke should get a run. Best stopper at the club, need him for the classy opposition players. He has some pace, and more heart than any at the club (excepting possibly Chapman).

Re: Ramblings of a supporter

Geelongs has weaknesses.

FORWARD LINE
Ottens is injury prone. He is our best key forwrd but has to also spend time in the ruck
N Ablett will be a very good player. He needs more game time and the confidence of the other players]
Hawkins is the same as Nathan but does not have anywhere the endurance required at the moment.
Gamble and Grima will develope in time
Our key position players do not have the depth at the moment
Crumbing forwards no problems, Chappy, Ablett, Varcoe etc

MIDFIELD
One paced
Bartel is fantastic
Selwwod and Prismall will be great but one paced
They have to draft to overcome this

TAGGERS
Rooke has to get on the park. Ling O.K. on the slower types

BACKLINE
Scarlett is a worry. Great player when on song but has a negetive effect when not. Our captain who knows? Egan great. Wuj provides great run from the backline. Then we have Corey, Enright, Johnson etc which is O.K. What we need is a tall backman.

All teams have an area to improve in. Sure I love Geelong. When I look at our list it looks fantastic but when you really compare it to the top sides perhaps it is bling faith.

I feel we will have a better list in several years than we have now In the meantime even though I have tried to barrack for other sides in the badtimes like now to overcome the hurt I no I will never change. P.S. I have followed them for 47 years

FUTURE
I look forward to Brownless, Hockings... etc kids to play for our side and a team that will be a force in the future. WHat we need is more mad supporters like me

Mooney on song is better than Ottens. Ottens can't lead up to the ball with anything like the pace or agility required, whereas Mooney can usually get ahead of his man. In contested marking situations, especially one-on-ones, they're both very good.
