I learn't a lot about myself in the last year. Wog culture right now (18-early 20s) is really... really pathetic. Roids/rec drugs/tatts/clubbing every second week is pretty much the norm. I didn't get caught up too much in this stuff but a few tastes of it was enough to to make me realize how stupid it is. Plus I can't stand most Electronic Dance Music.

So all thats really happening is these boys are being killed as a show of force and a deterrent, which I dont agree with.

Its a real shame, one of them is my age and I think back on the things I've learned in the last 5 years living a fairly average life, I cant imagine with how much regret they look back at what they did.

Pity they didn't have this foresight when they first arrived at the airport and saw the 'Drug Trafficking = Death' billboards and signs.

They were happy to shadow box with death, now they are in the ring with him and about to get clobbered Drago-to-Creed style. I think harsh reality has awoken them from their greed wonderland beauty sleep.

The only slight sliver of sympathy/remorse I feel for these two is that they appeared not to value their lives at all by gambling on them with some stupid medium-reward/high risk pay day. It's a slap in the face to people that die agonising deaths (e.g. cancer) and don't get to choose their own fates.

Hear a lot of this, lots of spite and anger in the voices of people when talking about them. Its never about drugs though, its always about 'the greed' and the arrogance of them to flaunt the rules. Silly kids, deserve to die.

The executions taking place in Indonesia are nothing more than a political show of force.

As I explained in the thread on SRP there were 25 executions in the country between 1999 and late 2014.

This new guy wins presidency in October last year in a pretty closely tight run race, 53 - 47. The two previous elections were won pretty comfortably 60 - 40 and 60 - 25 - 15. So aside from being politically vulnerable he is also seen as a bit weak and soft, so now we start seeing him ordering a whole bunch of executions, mostly on foreigners because they are easier targets less likely to draw up sympathy from the voting public. There has already been 6, and there is expected to be another 60 or so this year.

It's much more the political system at work, as opposed to the justice system at work. Pure and simple.

As I also said it's hard to have any respect for a judicial system where one man wields so much power to determine who lives and who dies. Not only has he ordered these executions to start taking place, he is also has the power to grant clemency.

As unpalatable as it is that some people are still allowed to live and breath despite some of the horrific crimes they have done, I know deep down in my heart that opposing the death penalty is the right thing. FWIW I don't consider minor level drug dealing even close to a horrific crime either.
