okay, so maybe this roast shouldn't be directed at mister healy, but this article has tipped my over the edge. some of the points raised in this article are stupid in my opinion. yes gibbs hasn't dominated the midfield yet this season, but i dont see why we need him playing down back. surely gerard hasnt been living under a rock and has realised that yarran has been tearing it up down back all year (bar round one).
hoops last year was played up forward last year as a defensive forward, and was arguebly the most damaging in the league till he got injured. was setting many up and was averaging over a goal a game. why waste such talent in a position that he has already been tried in with limited success?
saying our backline is our biggest weakness is very short sighted IMO, especially when before last week we were ranked 4th in average points kicked against us (and i am assuming that we would still be in a similar position after we played the swans). yes there is room for improvement, but everything that was mentioned in the article suggested we are missing a good 3 or 4 players down back.
also, putting waite down back is like robbing peter to pay paul. yes waite was in AA form when he was in defense (and i dont remember him having any critics when in defense, he even got selected for the all stars game). but what forwards do we have to replace waite with?
and can reports stop forgetting about bower who is an automatic starter when fit. once playing, much of our perceived weakness in defense will be our the door!
krueze going forward isnt such a stupid idea and he is tall, can mark and can kick, but 99% of ratt's hints have suggested he will play in the centre more often than up forward. other than the game against port which he won off his own boot, he hasn't shown much else to suggest he will make such a difference to the team in the forward arc.
finally, all this rubbish about us being so reliant on judd. yes, there is no denying that he played a ripper half of footy which went a long way to getting us over the line. but when you look at players like mitch, smurph and curnow, they are always putting their head over the ball and dishing it out to others, but with far less recognition (besides curnow, because all you hear when bruce is commentating is OMG WHAT A STORY THIS KID IS, I THINK I JUST BLEW IN MY PANTS, HE HAS AVERAGED OVER 20 TOUCHES IN ALL HIS GAMES, I JUST BLEW AGAIN, AND HE BROKE HIS LEG LAST YEAR....OMG NOT AGAIN). murph has picked up his game massively this year with a full pre-season, and his odds for winning the brownlow are getting shorter by the week. at the end of the day, judd is a superstar. supertars ALWAYS lift when the pressure is on. although we might have other players who pick up their game at the same time, people are always going to turn around and say judd got the team over the line.
sorry about the rubbish rant, im just sick of reporters writing un-informed articles.
