Senior List
Had this in the "21 and under" thread but thought the feel-good message should be spread like the Word.
I think its important to note that we have a so many players around the 18-25 y/o bracket that are absolute quality, and who we can expect significant improvement from in the years to come.
If you include these guys in a list of players we will likely see continue to develop en route to our premiership window it looks very promising:
- Jordan De Goey
- Darcy Moore
- Taylor Adams
- Matthew Scharenberg
- Brodie Grundy
- Tim Broomhead
- Adam Treloar (We will land a big name)
- Jack Crisp
- Steele Sidebottom
- Jamie Elliot
- Marley Williams
- Tom Langdon
- Brayden Maynard
- Jonothan Marsh
Players that would even be handy even at clubs like Hawthorn, Fremantle, West Coast, Sydney, Bulldogs:
- Alex Fasolo
- Jarrod Witts
- Nathan Freeman (on potential)
- Ben Kennedy (on potential)
- Jackson Ramsay
- Jack Frost (who I really rate)
When people are suggesting that we lack genuine elite talent to match it with clubs like the Bulldogs and GWS, from my point of view its far too early to judge. Darcy Moore, Jordan De Goey, Brodie Grundy, Jamie Elliot, Steele Sidebottom could all be top end players over the next 5-7 years. Nobody would've said Scott Pendlebury would eventually become a a top 5 player in the competition if they made that judgement in his first or second year; the same can be said about Dane Swan. How about Dayne Beams? Tom Rockliff? Nat Fyfe? Gary Ablett? Jobe Watson? Josh. P Kennedy? Sam Mitchell? Liberatore? I could go on and on, but in all honesty Darcy Moore has shown just as much as any of the blokes listed above did in their first four games.
Just imagine De Goey brushing off tacklers coming out of stoppages in 2-3 years. Darcy Moore running around like a greyhound at ground level, while taking high-flying marks with his elite reach and then finishing off his work as he's already demonstrated he can do. Imagine Elliot, who is the definition of clutch, consolidating his game and using all his incredible attributes consistently. Marley Williams further developing his rebound game and getting more and more 30+ touch games, which he has really made leaps and bounds in this year. Scharenberg actually getting a full preseason in, unhindered by injury and fulfilling that potential that saw Chocco calling him "the best schoolboy talent since Carey." Brodie Grundy is an absolute ball-magnet ruckman at 21; meanwhile posters were saying he had a bad game when he picked up 20 possessions.
So much talent to be optimistic about; I really couldn't care less about negative opinions on here. Those posters are absolutely entitled to those opinions – I just think they're wrong!
