Had this in the "21 and under" thread but thought the feel-good message should be spread like the Word.

I think its important to note that we have a so many players around the 18-25 y/o bracket that are absolute quality, and who we can expect significant improvement from in the years to come.

If you include these guys in a list of players we will likely see continue to develop en route to our premiership window it looks very promising:

- Jordan De Goey
- Darcy Moore
- Taylor Adams
- Matthew Scharenberg
- Brodie Grundy
- Tim Broomhead
- Adam Treloar (We will land a big name)
- Jack Crisp
- Steele Sidebottom
- Jamie Elliot
- Marley Williams
- Tom Langdon
- Brayden Maynard
- Jonothan Marsh

Players that would even be handy even at clubs like Hawthorn, Fremantle, West Coast, Sydney, Bulldogs:

- Alex Fasolo
- Jarrod Witts
- Nathan Freeman (on potential)
- Ben Kennedy (on potential)
- Jackson Ramsay
- Jack Frost (who I really rate)

When people are suggesting that we lack genuine elite talent to match it with clubs like the Bulldogs and GWS, from my point of view its far too early to judge. Darcy Moore, Jordan De Goey, Brodie Grundy, Jamie Elliot, Steele Sidebottom could all be top end players over the next 5-7 years. Nobody would've said Scott Pendlebury would eventually become a a top 5 player in the competition if they made that judgement in his first or second year; the same can be said about Dane Swan. How about Dayne Beams? Tom Rockliff? Nat Fyfe? Gary Ablett? Jobe Watson? Josh. P Kennedy? Sam Mitchell? Liberatore? I could go on and on, but in all honesty Darcy Moore has shown just as much as any of the blokes listed above did in their first four games.

Just imagine De Goey brushing off tacklers coming out of stoppages in 2-3 years. Darcy Moore running around like a greyhound at ground level, while taking high-flying marks with his elite reach and then finishing off his work as he's already demonstrated he can do. Imagine Elliot, who is the definition of clutch, consolidating his game and using all his incredible attributes consistently. Marley Williams further developing his rebound game and getting more and more 30+ touch games, which he has really made leaps and bounds in this year. Scharenberg actually getting a full preseason in, unhindered by injury and fulfilling that potential that saw Chocco calling him "the best schoolboy talent since Carey." Brodie Grundy is an absolute ball-magnet ruckman at 21; meanwhile posters were saying he had a bad game when he picked up 20 possessions.

So much talent to be optimistic about; I really couldn't care less about negative opinions on here. Those posters are absolutely entitled to those opinions – I just think they're wrong!

I agree. There is Plenty to be Excited about.

Though as Bucks said. “Still have to Develop Them Into Great Players”

That is IF he Stays

Agree - People been harsh on Grundy Recently
People have been harsh on many recently.
But on Grundy. Strangely enough he wasn't voted in the player's best 22 earlier in the season whereas now he is given un the start up. Well done on the young man.
Potentially a good list and a lot to look forward to in 2016, with whomever we trade.

People forget Grundy had a nasty neck injury / scare during the year, don't care who you are that has impact on your season. He's come back from that strongly.
Ps I would still keep Witts big time because when the sub rule goes they will be a top line tandem

Good post.
A lot to look forward too.
Yes the negativity doesn't improve the players, no magic wand out there but hard work
We have good cattle, some prime beef, some a wagu beef (Pendles, swan, Cloke) in what they mean to us.
Now for the young ones to work hard and take the next steps.
Fatten them up for market... Then let the success come (because of the hard work)

That was at the Start of the Pre-Season where he did Struggle a bit in 2nd Season and Witts had a Strong Finish.

Worked his But Off over the Pre-Season to get into great shape

I reckon it be Different now

Ok boys, keep developing, keep working and fingers crossed we will have a power combo for many years

My impression is that the club has rated the experiment and has moved on. The thing to look forward is to will be the Grundy/Cox tandem.

I like cox too (so to speak) (in a football sense)
Big men are hard to find, lol at Essendon they had ruckman offloaded Ryder, bell peppers has fallen away (but it is Essendon) now they struggle for rucks.
Then again they struggle for everything.

Im definitely excited about what this group can do, watching footy classified the only one on there that is excited for us and can see a bright future was hutchy (suprising)

Carro, lyon and lloyd were all saying we should of done better and should of won some more of the close ones we lost. Which is true, but i find it a bit ironic considering all 3 has us in there bottom 6-7 at the start of the year.

IS THAT REALLY NEEDED:rolleyes:

lol.. you hold grudges for a long long time eh? Yes, it was absolutely needed. And I must point out that I am utterly devastated by your use of bold type and capitals. I mean, that's the cyberworld equivalent of a punch in the face and a de-dacking of my undies...

I'll have to go and get some cuddles from my cybergirlfriend

I disagree with your sentiment. That might have been true at the beginning of the year when we were expecting to dive this season, but half-way into the year, we were playing good footy and competing with the top sides.

As Bucks said tonight, we're bitterly disappointed we let this season slip and we should be.

Richmond, Freo, Hawthorn, Port, Sydney losses all could have been wins. Just pulling off two of those games would have us in finals contention. Winning all five would have us in top 4. Instead, we lost all these close games, despite being in a winning position. We need to learn how to finish and win the tight ones.

I don't mind OP threads like the above trying to keep us all positive, but we need the results as well and we shouldn't dismiss our poor run in the second half of the season.

I'm starting to tire of the "young" excuse. Bulldogs are pretty much just as young, have a first year coach who has taken them from bottom 4 to almost Top 4.

Having a young group is certainly no excuse. We should be at least three wins better off than we are now and still competing for a finals position. Our inability to take our chances is a major concern and must be addressed in the off season. Missing finals for three years in succession is not an option.

Whilst we have a great young list, something tells me Freeman wont live up to that potential. Could possibly be the next Danger with his speed and strength but hes body looks very unreliable

Freeman's hamstring is a real worry. If he can't get on the park next year it may just be the end of his career. That 2013 draft should have been one of the foundations of our next premiership. Langdon and Marsh were inspired choices and Adams is fulfilling his promise, but losing out on Scharenberg and Freeman really hurts, whilst White, Karnezis and Armstrong were also busts. The club must get this years draft and trade period spot on or we are going to be mid table for a few more years yet.
