Here we are with a bucketload of tigerheads tippy toeing around, suggesting but we are not this and we should be falling off then and the youngsters will soon lose the wind in their sails etc etc et ****ing cetra.
Now you would think that after a shitful last decade the penny would have dropped as to the differences between the now and the last decade.
You would also think that after a ****ing truck load of dissapointments, mainly due to their belief in the past of the BS spurting from used car salesmen that masqueraded as coaches, they would he riding this ride for all its worth. Knowing full well that if it stopped, whenever it stopped the end result would be the basis of a team that has come from nowhere and will be in the tipsters sights when tipping the top 8 next year.
Now get rid of your ****ing inferiority complexes, the whole comp and i mean those teams at the top are shitting themselves at having to play us. And here we are with tigerheads still not believing.
After 4 straight and 5 out of the last 6, I EXPECT, I dont sit there and hope. ;)

It's funny in that my left brain is full of excitement and my right brain is resonating with restraint in that we've been here before and like reconciling with the ex girlfriend, you know it will end in tears. But speaking of reconciliation, the last time I had this state of mind was the end of the 2008 season when we'd won 8 of our last 11. So I ask, what is different to then. I make the following observations:
1. In 2008 we were coached by an individual who himself noted that he wasn't a development coach but more a match by match strategist type - this has now been changed;
2. Even if we're honest, we'd acknowledge that our forward line was based on a wonderfully loyal but ageing champion of the club and guy cruelly slowed by a horrific injury - transition has now occurred and will only mature further with the development of Big Ben and others as a three to four pronged forward line
3. We had some great kids down back and the games and experience are now starting to accrue coupled with better decision making and structure;
4. We are building a clearance and pressure focussed midfield - no coralling or space guarding
5. We will have one of the best training facilities in the league at the start of next year and we have a modern coaching group with the right balance of match day smarts but are development focussed across all team lines.

These are just five points that in my mind are different to the end of 2008. PLease feel free to add, but that is why the left brain is winning.

I think we will experience a disapointing loss before the end of the season and it will be a team other than St Kilda and Collingwood who will inflict it. A team we expected to beat (wouldnt be rubbing into Essendon too much - gives away my guess).

The main thing is that we don't lose it over that one game as it will be all part of the journey of this year.

Im hoping Collingwood dont cause too much damage as Im hopeful for three or four wins before the end of the year.

Its going to be a LOOOONG summer with the anticipation of next season.

As Ben said, 'Once bitten, twice shy'. I've gone early before with celebrating 'the arrival' of the Tigers as a threat. I need a couple more weeks to be convinced that this is in fact the real deal and not just a run of good form that has come against sides that haven't been on their game. The Pies game is the one I'm waiting for. Run them close or even knock them off and the lid will come off, get belted and well it will remain firming in place until the 2011 season.

we are way off premiership material. Having said that If we won the premiership this year we would go done as the greatest rise from the ashes efforts ever. The effort would be completely ballsy and one for the ages!

The other teams all have their issues including Geelong so it is not impossible like The Geelong versus Port GF team

this pretty much sums up my view: I'd add that given none of us expected anything this year, everything is a bonus and 3-5 more losses this over the last 7 rounds wouldnt dissappoint me - particularly if we learn something about the players, list and game plan in the process.

In some senses, one or two bad losses may be instructive for us going into 2011 (Im not saying I want this to happen, but this has to be a year of learning and its a not totally bad thing if a team exposes something about us that we might not have learnt another way - or learn the hard way in 2011 when there really is something at stake (eg a place in the finals). The great thing for the team and for us supporters is that we have nothing to lose this year except an opportunity to learn.

I just love seeing Cogga post this.

I'm very excited by our recent form and I'm full of hope for the future, but I don't want to get too far ahead of myself until we put in a great performance against a top team who have no injury excuses. If we restarted this season, I think we'd be a finals team and I reckon we'll be in the running next season.

Enjoying it. Lots

Another v good draft/ trade period needed.

Finals. Come on - any objective person would say we are absolutely no chance

I am not objective

It is an interesting question, when should we stop being happy with "being competitive" (however you define it) and start expecting results?

Earlier in the year, I was happy with being competitive for this season. I stand by this. Clearly some have made the transition onto expecting results. Personally, whilst I'm loving we way we're going about it at the moment, we are too inexperienced and don't yet have enough quality/depth on the list to be expecting results.

A question for those who expect. If we don't get the results you expect, will you now get stuck into the team for underperforming?

You know what a disappointing loss is dude? When the team plays in crunch games and goes missing and the coach sits there sucking his thumb as was the case last year and the year before.
Or the team goes missing and the coach offers the excuse "they got stage fright".
I am not saying we have arrived big time, what I am saying is, relevant to where we were at, we have arrived BIG TIME. Now if you move the where we were at a little further north and add the arrived big time, you might see why we have arrived. ;)
