Hi guys - long time lurker / first time poster here.

Apologies if this thread is in the wrong section - wasn't quite sure where it should go...

I'm heading over to Melbourne for round 3 to catch a few games and was wanting to know (as someone who is not a Freo / MCG / AFL etc member) what tickets I am restricted to buying.

General admission only or are my options a bit broader? I rarely go to games so very unfamiliar with the system. Ticketek website isn't great either...

Any recommendations on where I should sit?

Plan so far is for;
Hawthorn v Freo (MCG)
Doggies v Richmond (Etihad)
Pies v Cats (MCG)
Bombers v Blues (MCG)

Thanks for any help :)

Tickets usually go on sale 2 weeks out.

As a non-member you will probably have 2 choices; Reserve seating or General Admin (3rd tier).

I haven't had to buy myself a ticket for ages so i don't know the details yet, will keep you posted if I find out more for the game.

Busy weekend you have planned!
All those round 3 games are on sale now to the public. You can buy a reserved seat or general admission now to any of those games. The websites will offer a range seats across most levels/stands/categories with maps explaining where they are. The Etihad game you will be able to pick an exact seat using their interactive seat map.

The Freo game there will be GA on level 1 Ponsford and pretty much the whole top level for rest of ground so I wouldn't bother reserving a seat unless you want level 2. The other 3 games will be much busier, GA will be top level only towards the back or maybe whole of top level behind goals. By game day they might not even be selling any more GA, just depends on demand. If you don't want to sit up high or don't want to rush to get any half decent GA seats on the day then it would be worth reserving a seat lower down for those games, costs a fair bit more though.

As for recommendations where to sit, how long is a piece of string? Depends if you like being close/further back/low/high/wing/goals/undercover/open etc. My only advice is the back of level 1 at both grounds you can't see the big screens or top of goal posts, they have TVs you can see though.

Ummmm WTF I just went to check if tickets were on sale for round 5 Swans game as they were not yesterday. They are on sale now and it says both opposition supporters bay's allocation is exhausted. That surely can't be right can it ??

Thanks all - tickets sorted for everything except the Etihad game, which Ticketek apparently don't handle (or at least couldn't at the time). Went to the Ticketek outlet at Carousel shopping center - girl at the counter couldn't have been more helpful :) Seats seem decent enough.

I'm ashamed to say that the last time I went to the footy locally was when our now assistant coach got KO'd at the WACA... I must rectify this situation this season! GA seating should be easy enough to get for the non-blockbuster games at Subi I expect?

2nd half of last year games were starting to sell out only about 3 days after they went on sale a fortnight before the games. Even against teams like Adelaide.
