Gibbs vs W.B

I think he did have a job on someone not sure who it was. Might have been Aker for a little bit but whoever he had to guard he destroyed them with silky class and skill.

if they still had a players position on the back of the footy cards these days, i'm sure young bryce would have 'utility' as his. mr everywhere.

plus it was great to see him fly the flag in the first half when a couple of doggies were into fev. great stuff.

Spot on x 2. :thumbsu:

He started out as a third wheel, Cooney was trying to go Judd and Gibbs was trying to go to Cooney, after a while Cooney stopped 'running with' and that term is used very loosely and Gibbs was just roaming through the midfield, no specific match-up through most of the first half.

Very pleased to see him get in there and push away a Dog when Fev was being double teamed by Lake and whoever it was. :thumbsu:

You cant match up Gibbs anymore, he's just too good for everyone and Bryce does and Bryce pleases

He was awesome. The way he gets the ball in congestion is just unbelievable. And when Gibbs gains possession and starts running through the middle, the opposition know they are in trouble and start panicking. His evasive skills are amazing. When a tackler approaches, he never looks at them directly, but knows they're there, and waits until they commit, then wrong foots them, and runs past. It's a freaky talent, and one of his many tricks. Looks like he's having a lot of fun out there playing in the middle with Murph, Judd, and Stevens. He toyed with the Bulldogs midfielders and made Cooney and co. look 2nd rate. :)

Funny you should say that after the game on the weekend.

I've noticed on more than one occasion Gibbs doesn't always take possession when an opponent is about to tackle him. Gibbs fumbles or knocks the ball forward before he takes possession so he isn't caught holding the ball in their forwardline. Bryce ends up winning the ball and creating more time to get rid of the ball with a clumsy attempt to win the ball.

Gibbs would still end up with the ball by being tackled when not in possession.

Genius.

Yes Gibbs likes to toy with the idiots that think they can tackle him. But Murphy is the one who never gets tackled.

imo gibbs is one of the best players to come out of any draft...in his first year (last year he played bp, and he was pretty much better off not playing at all) he has achived so muc it is disgusting. he is able to play a shutdown game while also being able to play a devastating attacking game. the last few weeks he has been able to shut down some of the est players in the comp while picking up over 20 possessions in alot of his games..

He reminds me of SIMON BLACK just the way he plays around packs and the way he gives the ball off. also there body builds are very very similar.

The article in the sun today shouldnt have been about Judd vs Selwood, should be Gibbs vs Selwood.

Imagine if Gibbs was at Geelong, the freedom he would get being the 71248th best midfielder.... and there is NO way selwood would be averaging 20+ for us.

what makes gibbs amazing is that hes one of those that can have 18-20 touches and have a fantastic game, earlier in the year he had confidence issues (maybe he was reading BF forums :P) which now seems well and truly behind him

anyone that has it taped/downloaded, have a look at gibbs at the first bounce of the 4th qtr
he is something else

opposition supporters are coming round too. I work with a Power, Crows, Hawks and Bombers fans-at the start of the year they all told me how bad and soft he was. I kept using the word "gun"

Now they all say he's getting scary

I like it

stupid stupid STUPID comment.... just because he didn't do a hell of a lot doesnt mean it didn't teach him anything. Believe it or not, he is the player he is because of Pagan, because Pagan gave him the game time and Pagan persisted with him. He wouldn't be the player he was now if he played the whole of last season in the reserves.

to be honest i think that is a stupid statement. we had pretty much no midfield last year, and pagan still didnt put gibbs in the centre. any other coach with half a brain would have slotted gibbs straight into carltons strugling midfield to give him som time with the ball. placing him in bp was playing him out of position and did not show us his true potential. had gibbs had been put on the ball last season he would have been as freakishly good as he has been the last couple of weeks for the whole of this season and maybe even towards the end of lsat season.
