Why is everyone bagging his performance tonight? It's one of his best games for Freo. If he can keep showing improvement like he did tonight - keep playing him. He actually has some heart AND speed, the two things we need in a midfielder. I think we need to stick with him after tonights performance.

he tried hard but his decision making is hopeless, and his delivery by foot is ordinary. Mind you he wasn't alone in that area tonight, I don't think many of our players weren't guilty of missing a target by a large way at some point tonight.

He's a bit like Schammer, gets alot of the ball and has reasonable pace but use of the ball and decision making lets him down big time. He actually hurts us alot. Chad Fletcher is similar too.

I'll take someone who A) can get the ball and B) run with it - with poor disposal over say M Carr or Walker who don't, and also have poor disposal. I think he is just overly nervous, more game time will fix that.

I can't believe how slow we look... Mundy's "calm" which we all liked is now infuriatingly slow decision making and running. Get these guys doing squats and running 100m or something to make them faster, it's pathetic.

So you'd rather the opposition get the ball 20 times as a result of turnovers as opposed to 15? Matt Carr and Walker have superior disposal to Gilmore btw.

MC is a tagger he isnt required to get 20 touches a week.

I disagree. Apart from Mundy's one slow decision in the 4th quarter, at least he looks to have a real purpose about his disposal and he doesn't take for ever to dispose of the ball. He also generally puts it in the right place.

Gilmore is genuinely slow at deciding who he is going to kick it to. But then, he is not alone with M Carr, Walker, McManus, Parker, Longmuir and Cookie all similarly slow at moving the ball on, and all with dodgy kicks. In theory, they should all go back to the WAFL...

Of our sub-level disposal guys, the first one I would take is Cookie. At least he has tackling skills (Yes tackling is a skill, not something that happens by a player "trying harder"!) that the others don't.

I have worked out why gilmore is always free.

the opposition dont bother putting a player on him as he is just going to **** it up by himself.

Last year Gilmore was approaching cementing himself in the top 22. I think he did his hammy and lost momentum.

Going by tonights game compared to last week, and if he continues improving game by game then he will be in our top 22.

He played pretty good footy tonight in a losing side.

I hope he is getting positive feed back from his team mates because he's got all the raw material to become one of our more important players.

Ok now i've had my buddy draft and am lucky enough to have retained MJ i'll stick my neck out with who I think will be a surprise in '07/

Gilmore......There is something that CC and the match committee expect he is capable of doing. The games he played in '06 he was getting better by the minute. Shame he got injured.

Who ever gets him in the buddy draft will be sitting back grinning by about round 13.

I posted the above here. I'm sticking by it.

I was at the ground and the guy was awesome. He ran harder than any of our midfielders and also rucked for part of the game. A lot of our midfielders were happy jogging around the centre square. He at least made hard long leads to the wings which were occasionally honoured.

He did get caught with the ball occasionally but there was nothing on offer up forward.

IMO he has stepped above Justin Longmuir as our 2nd ruckman. Warnock is a fair way off.

The guy got allot of the ball.......

Does that mean he played well?? No!

He still has very little skills...Still just bombs away..Still gets caught constantly...

In the end...He is in the team out of necessity for our club..We lack a ruckmen..And he is all we have as a back up.

He tried a lot harder than some of the others! Has a way to go, but at least he runs and chases. Too many of our players were soft tonight, including some of our more illustrious players.

Any midfielder in our team who "can get the ball" should be praised. Did any of our players even get over 20disposals? How many weeks now have we had few players with high individual disposals?

I'd like to see Gilmore given say 5 games in a row to see if he can keep improving in each of them - what he showed tonight is one of his best games for us he has played, so he _is_ improving.
