Now don't get me wrong.......and before you call for my BF membership to be renounced, just hear me out.

I would love, as much as anybody here, to be sitting on top of the ladder, or second on % with 4 wins and no losses.

However, I think that had we won these last two games playing the way we have, it would have covered a number of glaring problems that may not have received the same attention or urgency as I'm sure they are now.

If Juddy throws it onto the boot in the dying seconds vs Dons, and Fev or Betts snag a goal from it, would we be as worried about our lack of intensity, or inability to kick straight?

I want us to be contenders, and the FACT is we just aren't there yet. We are coming......but we haven't arrived.

Our inconsistency should cost us premiership points. If it doesn't and we get away with some "cheap wins" we may well find that come September we get found out and embarrassed.

Part of being a finals team and being a contender, rather than making up the numbers is playing a consistent game style.

Our "good" game style that we saw through the NAB cup and opening 2 rounds is a style that will win finals and maybe even a GF.

Our "poor" game style shouldn't be rewarded with premiership points.

Hopefully this week, against the Dogs, a team we seem to match up well against recently, and who may just be a little tired from their recent travels (twice to Subi in 3 weeks), we can put on our good game style, kick straight, and take some confidence into the Hawks game, after which we have an "easier" run for a few games.

So I'm glad we lost the last two weeks. We didn't deserve to win, and for the sake of toughening this team up, and to make them a good finals team, we should learn how to play consistently for the rewards.

Not thrilled that we lost but can definitly see your logic. I thoroughly agree that on the line wins where we are not playing to our potential would do more harm than good in the long run. I suppose the key is to hope that the whole group can look deeply into the losses and the lack of consistent intensity and come up with some measures to improve in this area. If they don't then they may take the losses as validation that the potential is not as good as most of us know it is.

I did hear the thud..........it came not long after the two "pops" in round 1.

First "pop" was the Richmond bubble.......the second "pop" was Cousins hamstring.

The thud that followed was Tiges fans landing on their feet, realising that if their team improves in the second half of this year they could still finish 9th.:thumbsu:
