SANFL clubs would normally say yes so it doesn't interfere with the players development. If they did say no, and the player was available to return a few years later, the player may decide to go somewhere else because of that.

I think it’s along the lines of we’re not allowed to use their weapons against them

We have to seek permission from the oppo club to play SANFL players taken in the MSD vs their old clubs.
