Watching the game yesterday it appears Glenn Archer is well and truly past it. He's still got heart but that is about all.

Consider some of his match-ups: started on Jones, took Adkins for a while, later on Wirrpunda. Heavy workload wasn't it? Might be time to hang them up Arch.

He still throws in a good game every now and then, but is a bit like Mick Martyn now - compensates for waning ability with aggression.

IS this some sought of WCE code? H-e-a-v-y workload....time to hang them up......Nup, don't follow.

I would assume, a bloke who can handle a heavy workload is not past it yet. Call me crazy. And never mind the fact that he is playing with a hand that is re-broken every two weeks, and barely had a bone in it unscathed after the incident (after he which he kept playing FWIW)

I don't think I saw Jakovich touch the footy yesterday, but I am not going to label him past it, because I wouldn't know.

Let me tell you for a fact, that after his first game back he has been sensational. Fact.

If he is that injured and playing that badly.... then he is a disgrace to be taking up a young players spot who can play 100%

Playing badly and is a disgrace? Whatever, but recommend knowing something about a guy's contribution this season before posting and appearing stupid.

Archer still has a couple of years in him. I didnt think he played that bad, well I didnt notice him much yesterday which suggests he didnt get much of it, but he also didnt make himself noticed with some stupid errors etc...

No code mate - it's called sarcasm.

I'll give Archer props for his physical influence on a game which has always been his strength and is no doubt valuable to his team. But realistically Archer has never even been close to Jako's jock strap as player.

Even in his prime he was at best the guy who took the third forward (after Martyn, McCartney/ etc). Good for a spurt of inspiration here and there and has never lacked courage but let's no fool ourselves about his overall ability. I know it fraught with danger judging a bloke on one game but those match-ups show his defensive value to the Roos is pretty minimal right now.

Don't get me wrong if you play 200+ games you're no dud but let's not overstate his case especially now (injury and all).

Archer has played on every type of forward you can imagine. It is often forgotten that the bloke is not even six foot. Can you even comprehend a bloke that size playing on, and beating, Lloyd, Richardson, Tarrant etc etc. I rekcon you are underselling him a whole lot, saying his only attribute is physical presence. He can and does go forward and kick goals, and he has the best opposite side of anyone in our side.

He plays like a bloke 5 inches taller. He is the second best footballer I have seen at North in our best ever era, and was a no brainer in our TOTC.

Just take my word for it wil you.

archer will always add a physical toughness to a side. he has never been a flashy player but one who will go out there and put physically pressure on the opposition. i see him as being a similar player to our own danny chick.

I love watching Glen Archer play - tough as nails
Trys his guts out the whole game
I would love to play next to him and I would have loved to see him play for the eagles...

Apart from his first game back from injury, he has been sensational this year. Wasn't in our best on Sunday, but wasn't the cause of any stuff ups either, and not in our worst.

His opponents aren't an indication of workload, just a lack of ideal match-up. Obviously West Coast don't have a 6ft forward who relies on body strength, so he wasn't used on such a player.

Please buddy. I'm not saying one is better or worse than the other. But 4x better? You're pulling yourself.
