The atmosphere was great. The players really soaked it up in the end... didnt think they wanted to leave the ground.

Amazing the differences in type of crowd between AFL, Soccer and NRL. In where I work on the second level its:

AFL = 45% female

Soccer = 30% female and alot older European males.

NRL = 10% female, if that.

Also, from storm games and the SOO that was played at TD, the crowds are alot different. Afl, the old banter flares up into verbals, in league, you can bag out a team and mouth with someone in the crowd, then they'll offer you a beer when they're going for their next shout and chat to you the rest of the game. You can fire up, but it's all friendly unlike afl. :eek:

yeah ive noticed that a few times at storm games... the banter will go both ways but if someone comes up with a good burn, theyll pay it and laugh it off! i think the storms form helps that a bit, storm fans are willing to give opposition their moment of happiness, as it most likely wont happen after the game and are fewer opportunities than those of storm followers!

I was there yesterday and I agree with what you say about the crowd and it was such a great atmosphere.

But I also believe that the NRL is less passionate than the AFL. I actually have league supporter friends who say this also.

NRL definitely less passionate. You only have to look at Membership figures between the codes. AFL is 10 x stronger in Memberships accross the board.

we know that hawthorn famously used the story of Notre Dame footballer "Rudi" for John Barkers retirement, the Melbourne Storm have had their own case leading up to the big game... Michael Crocker has told the club he will retire a year shy of his contract in order for Clint Newton to stay at the club.. Great stuff by Crock considering theyve only played together for half a season!

Hope they don't get robbed in the GF like last year.
That Ref was so bias.

Crockers going around for one more year so id be happy for him to go out with a premiership!! Geyer too!
