hey everyone, im not saying this is true, but i heard that goddard has been meeting with carltons "people" and he comes out of contract this year aswell. and he also barracked for carlton his whole life

i would be very suprised indeed if he was to leave the aints. he may of supported them as a child, but he will turning down a career in one of the top sides in the league to join one that will struggle to make the top12 IMO.

having said that, i dont think he has been overly impressive. and if he demanded a huge pay rise the saints may just take carltons first rounder (have to be top 3) and start again. although very unlikely.

The rumour I heard was that the Saints were feeling the pinch in their cap and may have to sacrifice one of their youngsters in order to keep Hamill and Gehrig, Riewoldt and Hayes plus most of the others.

I think the Tigers are looking for some more talent to add to their list and have space in their salary cap as do a couple of other clubs.

Aaron Hamill has just signed for $500k per season, and Fraser Gehrig is negotiating at present and will want a similiar amount. If I was Riewoldt or Hayes manager and starting discussion over next years contract then I would expect that their contracts would at least be equal to Hamill's. So I would expect Riewoldt and Hayes to be on similiar money to Hamill when their contracts come up next year and that's 1/3 of the cap gone on those 4 players.

The problem for the Saints is having to ensure they have enough money left in the cap to sign up Ball and Goddard this year and Koschitzke, Clarke, Dal Santo, Montagna, and Murray next year after Hamill's contract has set the bench mark.

You may be able to argue about some of the others but is Aaron worth a lot more than Kosi, Ball or Goddard to the team? Is he worth twice as much in a contract offer as Kosi, Ball, Goddard?
Do you make sure you keep Raphael so Xavier doesn't leave?

If he is getting twice as much as one of the youngsters and another club made a better offer to their managers what should they do?

Mmmm i hope we can snag either kosi or ball. Clarke doesnt seem to have found his feet since his big year last year so i dont think he will be quite up there with the most wanted players.

whod want to go to richmond

An easy test to see which one of them wants to go to Richmond is to leave a $5 note in the players race. The first player to bend down to pick it up is the player that wants to go to Richmond.

everyone knows Goddard family are huge St Kilda supporters, so it is not impossible.

All draftees I belive are on 2 year contracts once they are first signed, so he will be out at the end of the year.

Carlton would have to trade hard to get him though. They won't finish last this year, so he can't walk from the saints and go first round pick in the pre season.

Would St Kilda accept Carltons first round pick anywhere from 3-10 for a number one draft pick?

Port demanded an early pick for stevens too.

And Stevens was supposedly a lifelong Collingwood supporter who didn't wind up at the club of his dreams. So there would be a certain irony if Carlton were trumped by a club with an earlier pre-season draft pick (eg Richmond), yes.

Big problem with Richmond. It will be revealed in public as the year progresses. Its been hinted at so far.

only one? ... ;)

Spot on amazonstud.

Hamill, and by extension David Allison (gee, what a surprise  ) are going to ruin that club yet again.

He has set a benchmark that the other players (rightly) will want to match. St Kilda wont be able to afford it.

The younger players SHOULD be the priorities to re-sign - NOT Hamill. He ain't worth THAT much.

He May be Good But he ain't worth that Much! Bloody Hell The Saints are gonna wreck what they've made i reckon.

I am tipping one or two good players to be leaving teh saints at teh end of the year. And you can expect almost every club to try and snap them up. A few clubs have a nice cushion in the cap to play with.

i no for a fact the eagles have big cushion, this added to the fact jakovich will retire at the end of this season. i dont think we would chase a st kilda player tho. jono hay is our man now his brothers back in perth.

Will it make them unattractive to certain young F&S prospects?

Wil it mean they mightn't have enough carrot to dangle??
