His disposal is a lot more desirable than his clearance ability.

As far as I know Essendon FC has not publicly stated that Goddard is the only good footballer they will ever try recruit again.

Bombers averaged more contested possessions than there opponents in 2012. We did, however, rank 13th in effective disposals. From what I hear, Goddard is a pretty good user of the football.

I'd say he would be similar to Stanton, though with a better contested game. He will play as a midfielder, but we're not explicitly relying on him to win clearances.

Moloney is the player we are targeting for that.

Only a contender should of had any interest in Goddard. Your club is not a contender... You're behind a bunch of sides. Why not invest in youth?? Because your club is sad, worried and desperate. I imagine it's because you are so desperate to have more than one elite player on your list that you are willing to come out and defend a player who has not even signed yet? And that's not to mention the fact that he is not exactly setting the world on fire at the moment.

I'm pretty bloody disappointed with the club, TBH. We should be culling from the MB to stock our list management, recruiting team, fitness staff, and coaches box, if we're doing due dilligence and exploring the best possible opportunities. The diagnoses from illuminated types on here have truly opened my eyes to what our real deficiencies are. An invaluable resource.

Don't understand the need for the shit fight. Even though he has his flaws, Blind Freddy could tell he is a very good footballer. Not the be all and end all but certainly will improve the side and limit the heavy reliance on a few outside players. Here's hoping the reports are true, as its a great step in the right direction.
