Who does everyone like for the Golden Slipper?
Still a few spots up for grabs this weekend, should be a good race.

i backed sleek chassis in the blue diamond so will probably back it again but they very rarely win both. i looked at press the button in the diamond and noticed it was first up and had g boss. then when i seen it in up in sydney and g boss again to ride then it clicked to me that maybe hayes has had this horse set out all along for the slipper. the diamond just a lead up race. boss would not have come to melbourne to ride it for nothing and being a sydney jockey gets the advantage of atleast been on the horse before it won in sydney. still paying around the $9 so is worth taking a punt on aswell.

Press The Button was scratched at the barrier for her lead up race into the Diamond as she was playing up severely and wouldn't enter the barrier. That's why she was 1st up in the Diamond. Not because Hayes had set her for the Slipper as her main aim. It may have worked in her favour though as she was impressive enough (with the gun run) in her win in Sydney. He is a dead set genius Hayes. As you said it's hard to win the Diamond and the Slipper but Hayes's 2yo's can do anything!

Not a perfect preparation but Murtajill's performance last start is the most impressive by a 2 year old this season in my opinion. If he draws well and is fit and ready he's the one.

I wouldnt back anything with G.Boss on it, he is the most overated hoop in the land, he is just 1 lucky man he got to have MD carry him around in the Cups and Plates. He rode like a twit on Saturday with Press the Button the exception, he frigging murdered Divine Madonna.

Sleek Chasis runs was most promising and I would be backing it for the Golden Slipper, seems a little special to me.

i didnt know that about press the button. so it was just a coincedence.
as for who i will be backing i will back sleek shassis as it was good for me in the diamond. i did back moonboat at $35 before its first start and hoping it can qualify tomorrow for a run. i dont think it will matter though as it doesnt seem to be up to the class of the other 2yo.

I was looking forward to backing Danehill Smile @ 7 to win & 2 to place.
Unfortunately she got injured, don't think any of these would have got within 3 lengths.

I'll wait for the barrier draw and see how this weekend pans out before placing any bets.

Just done a few calculations and believe Sashenka's 4th today has topped Forensics into first reserve into the crack field by just $200 prizemoney.
I'm pretty sure this is the field as it stands, wide open race.
Fixed odds are up now.

A wide open race as per usual....

Husson Lightning might get out to ridiculous odds and may be worth a shot at. Doesn't look like you will get any value at all for the fave...

Its a crack field thats for sure, if Sleek Chasis can get some favours and have the last crack at them it will be in with a huge show. Also can fault Press the button and Meurice (although I think Gai overates it a tad lol).

Will be a good race but as it stands and if the draws pan out favourably ill be backing Sleek Chasis.

Barrier Draw

Murtajill 16
Sleek Chassis 18
Forensics 1
Shaft 13
Deferential 3
Zizou 7
Husson Lightning14
Cecconi 11
Press The Button 2
Downhill Racer 10
Hurried Choice 6
Vecchia Roma 9

If the emergencies come out Murtajill goes to 14 and Sleek into 16. Makes it tough for them though. Zizou maybe the value. Meurice drew 5.

No Forensics is in and drew 1. Hawkesy took out Camarilla.

Not sure if you’re trying to say I’m wrong or not here.
Just to clear it up for you, since I posted the order on Sunday pm Sashenka 1st emerg was withdrawn that’s why Forensics 2nd emerg got in when Camarilla was scratched.

So how are all you Murtajill backers feeling now?
Hope you didn’t dive into the 4.40.

I''m leaning towards Press the button now after the barriers.

If it wins i wonder if Ronny will pull out the footage of him declaring it on Retro back in November after that Merson Cooper race. :p

I think Forensics but i also think that barrier 1 is a concern as there will be pace on and forensics will probly hav to be taken back and might be blocked for a run. ill probly hav hurried choice press the button in my multiples.

I like Deferential Each Way in the slipper.

Was on him on Saturday & from the good barrier, he will run a mighty race @ good odds :thumbsu:

The only bets I will be putting on are Grandma place bets for this race - just getting in the top 3 will be a win I reckon there are so many chances. Deferential $4.50 the pl although worried the Bead isn't on..thought he started to look good last start

I think the finish will be a blanket of about nine-ten of the runners. The better credentials lay in the wide barriers, they'll still be there fighting in the finish but the winner will come from one of Zizou or Meurice, third filled up by Sleek Chassis with the finish as close as the Toddman.

In terms of bets I'll try to catch the trifecta, the winner looks far too hard to pick although Meurice and Zizou are still sitting at some nice odds. Might add a place bet on something like Hurried Choice or Rose Ceremony.

Just about the whole field is some sort of chance, may be worth going after one in double figures but i will stick with some allways tris, usually get a juicy tri in open races like these
