Still remember the 'kaboom' type reaction when we drafted him with our last pick in the 09 national draft. Commentators around the desk were literally folding up their card tables for the night and trying to wrap things up when the entire room went 'Orrrghhhhhh'.

Vossy was right though. He was good once he got his rod out. Onya Goose! :footy: :thumbsu:

Massive respect for him as a player. He was never the same after he broke his leg but you could never doubt that once he was on the field he always gave his all. Seems a genuinely nice guy and he will leave football with a lot of friendships that he'll have for the rest of his life.

Was a great pick up for the club. Will be missed.

Onya Goose, grew on everybody around the club and became a great person to have at the place.

Seems like a top bloke.

The symptoms of the latest concussion sound really rough, hope he's okay down the track.

Loved having Goose at the club, fantastic pick-up and a good servant. Will miss him.

absolutely fantastic bloke.
was great at the Saints and it was sad to see him get that terrible injury with us which stalled his career.
Wasnt expecting him to do much with the Lions but to play another 70 odd games was great effort.
I always had a peek at the lions games to see how he was going.
He retires having earned the respect from both clubs.

Well done Goose. A real team player and proved t be a great support for younger players in the last few years. The type of guy who you would like having around a footy club.

Hope the recovery goes well and hope he finds a role in football in the future.

Always had a lot of time for goose. Just seemed like a guy who just enjoyed playing footy and I think because of that he always got the best out of himself. There were a few times where his career would have been written off at the beginning of the year but he'd find his way into the senior side by the end of the season.

I'll miss his on-field niggling and that face of disbelief he'd give every time he gave away a free kick that everyone at the ground could see was there.

Good luck for the future goose.

There would have been some very dark days for the club if Goose had never been recruited. My memory of him is after we lost to Geelong in Round 23 by a point in 2013. After the game and despite the disappointment of missing finals by a point (before Carlton fluked a win) he walked over to me in the stands, shook my hand and said thanks for all the support.

It's a shame we don't get to send him out properly with a farewell game and see at least one more of those ridiculous expressions he pulls.

Thanks Goose :thumbsu:.
