Any of you guys implemented or using GPS Tracking (in car) in your business or at work. I need to do something to get a handle on billing hours and time sheets just aint cutting it.

I would be interested in who you went with and how well it works.

i have no idea about actual services

but i do no that some gps devices will keep a full log of daily runs that u can access later

not sure if that helps

Thankyou.

We will probably look at one of the online services as they do things like overlaying on Google maps (which would be ideal) and they can be accessed via web browser from anywhere with an internet connection.

yeah exactly
plus that way u have the added comfort of checking where all ur cars/vans/trucks are at anyone time

also i think with teh gps in car system it still only keeps a log and i doubt u can export that info onto a computer...basically meaning ur stuck in the paper age!

Thought I might resolve this thread in case someone comes across it in the future. I went with a product called Trackstick Pro.

It doesnt do real time tracking (via the mobile net) - it instead logs to onboard memory and you simply download the data via USB every so often.

The software will output to various formats and has excellent integration in Google Earth. Can be hardwired or run off a cigarette lighter.

I'd have a look at TracerTrak

It does live tracking reports via the web, and uses google earth to map out the locations. Also you can do some cool stuff like set boundaries that notify you when they're breached via SMS.

I decided against the real time tracking solutions (opting for a logging type product) as we where simply looking for a solution to help us with billing for onsite hours. With the logging type products we have no ongoing costs and simply download the data at regular intervals.
