I was one of the people happy when he got injured. I mean not all happy of what happened, shocking thing to happen to anyone. Just he was never any good before and still the same average dud. I was wanting him to be dropped in the weeks leading up to the accident. He would of been forced out eventually had it not happened. He got into the side this season on the basis of one good VFL game. The other 4 he was scheissenhausen in.

The problem is he is not athletic enough for the game and his hands are not good enough to justify that part of the game. Who really thinks he is part of the future here? Do not be delusional.

I am sorry some people Tambling, some people choose Graham, some chose Whitey and others choose Edwards to hate. I am not at all a fan of Polak. Never was and never will be. Does not have the attributes to be an AFL player. Slow, unathletic and his hands are not all that good.

Dud:thumbsd: Wish him all the best and that he has a good life after footy. But I am sick to death on seeing him back in the team already after 2 weeks! He would not be an AFL now had he not got injured! We have effectively wasted a spot on our list for a couple years.

Re: Graham 'the dud' Polak

There are better ways of saying that you dont think he is up to it.

Im not overly excited about him as a player either and despite the courage to come back, the come back is truly complete when you are judged on your merits as a player. he has done that and I dont hold too much hope for him as much as we need a player in the position that he tries to play.

Agree with this statement... ffs someone please change the title, whether it be OP or mod

Most of the OP is fair enough, just an opinion like anyone else has, but no need to put it like that in the thread title.

Be interested to know if the OP has ever bagged any journalists for sensationalist articles or headlines. No real difference IMO.

I was never a real total fan of getting Polak to the RFC in the first place, so am not surprised by his lack of impact during his time here, accident or no accident. But I have nothing against the guy, and figure the footy dept had reasons for keeping him on the list, and I'll respect that.

When he runs out in the RFC jumper, he's still one of ours, and I support him regardless.

Re: Graham 'the dud' Polak

probably not the best way to lead off a post about polly, but i take your point. i thought he was finally starting to get it together before the accident, but now he's a ways off again.

he's done a remarkable job to get back and play AFL no doubt, but were it not for the mature age rookie list he'd have been gone. we did delist him after all.

i think his form has him on the edge, he's versatile enough to be of some use, he's got a big body and good hands (sometimes), and he can help out in the ruck where we are still deficient.

i think he deserves a half dozen games or so to see if he can find his feet, but i don't want to see us gift him a heap of games if his form drops off any more, (a la adam ramanauskas, who on form didn't deserve a game by the end of his last year at the bombers).

No issues with opinions, but richcogs, you really do need to learn how to express yours in less of a 'punch to the throat' manner. The thread title is shocking.

Re: Graham 'the dud' Polak

I was listening to Terry Wallace commentate on SEN and he said Polly was an emotional marker?? WTF, that's a pretty soft mindset to take into a game, if true.

Those comments are a bit harsh towards Polak.

Before his injury I didnt mind him as player - and gave another tall option especially in the backline I hope he continues playing for us, we dont have many players his height and strength.

If it was not for the "Feel Good" factor, he would be long gone.

Matthew White gets slagged off for less, simple fact is Polak is not up to AFL standard.

Yesterday's showing illustrated the fact

3 Kick
3 Handballs
4 Marks

How can 6 possession in a game equate to acceptable standard?

Ask Ty Vickery.

I actually don't believe the 'feel good factor' had a role , otherwise he would've been placed as a VFL player for us as a sentimental value.
Also, if it was about 'feel good factors' then richo, brown and bowden would still be on our list. I can't imagine Hardwick being like that- afterall Cousins and co. got suspended

For now Polak needs to build his confidence afterall he hasnt played at AFL level for awhile. I say give him a go.

was a dud before he came to us and has been a dud since.funny how people get their knickers in a knot when confronted with the truth.

simple fact is, we kept him so our young tall forwards would have time to develop and to help jack out.
we did it on the cheap rather than targeting an experienced UP TO STANDARD PLAYER to do the job.
the old saying rings true in this case, pay peanuts get monkeys.

unfortunately atm i reckon we still need to play him for structure and to provide some cover to jack.
if astbury and griffiths are the real deal there is no long term place for him.

we will continue to lose games for as long as we play to many types like white polak mcguane nahas graham tuck rance and keep gifting games to weekly under performers like tambling.

As one of Polak's biggest well not haters, but not raters since he came to Richmond. Is he now finally finished? Done for good? I never want to see him again in a Richmond gernsey. Waste of time and development.

Goodbye:thumbsu:

Yes, agree. Never should've been re-drafted in the first place after we delisted him. Was saying that from the get-go. Maybe only cost us a rookie pick but clearly was a waste of time and development that could've been used on another kid. Polak wasn't good enough before his accident, was never going to improve after it. Was a feel good story and nothing more.

Everyone gets a new start and another opportunity under a new coach regime.
Polak is lacking confidence, and its showing in his game. It doesn't look like he'll be a part of the team going forward, so i would say that he'll be gone at the end of the year.
FWIW, i think it was good he was promoted first up, even if there were other contenders. This is / was his make or break year.
There might be some interest from other teams, he's not that old, but i suspect there'll be the "damaged goods" label applied to him. Hope he finds some form, or it'll be back to WAFL for him.

ATM he offers a better 2nd ruck option than all the rest of the candidates and ATM offers a better tall target in our FL, than all the rest of the candidates without seeing Griff's capabilities in the big time yet.
At the end of the day he has played 3 minutes of footy in the 1s since returning from the accident. Those that are having a go at his performance last week, re. stats should go back to the replay and see what his presence did do that didnt make the stats sheet. We also tend to forget that it was a bog track and marking wasnt going to feature all to much...IMO he is doing ok, we have improved since his inclusion and JR has grown another leg as well since Pole has been in the FL, the end. ;)

Agree Cogga,
He has safe hands and maybe able to play the Cam Mooney role once he hits his straps. Still 25 he can be a pretty good role player still. Mooney didn't have his breakout year until he was 24 but did very little the 2 following years. Polak also has a key role on the development of Riewoldt, Astbury, Post and Griffiths.
