Who wants to get married during winter or early spring?

Sort of related stories:

My grandad was an Englishman through and through. Emigrated out here when my mum was 15, but never got naturalised. Now England haven't won that many world cups (in any sport) in fact, they have only won 2. The 1966 Soccer world cup and the 04 Rugby world cup.

My mum was at school camp in 66 (still in England) and got very sick, so sick in fact that he had to get on a train and go fetch her. He had to listen to their greatest triumph on a portable radio, sitting on a train.

Then in 04, my mum got re-married. On the night of the Rugby world cup final. So he missed that too! Luckily the wedding was at the Adelaide Oval and there was a marquee behind the Bradman room that was showing the Rugby, so he spent most of the night peering into the other function watching it and smoking a pack of cigerattes.

Poor guy never got a break. He also was a Portsmouth supporter in the EPL and never saw them win anything, as he passed away 6months prior to their FA Cup win 2 years back.

I don't think he ever forgave my mum for making him miss England's only 2 World sport trimuphs :p

Had a wedding on the prelim, Geelong Collingwood. No problem though the reception was in a pub with a hall for the wedding and the main section with the big screen.

The speeches were even at half time, didnt miss a kick, best wedding ive been to including my own.

If Freo were playing I certainly wouldn't be going to any poxy wedding. And I think anyone who knows me well enough to invite me to their wedding would understand that.

Mind you, it's looking like that issue won't come up until at least my great grandchild's wedding - and I don't even have kids yet.

A neutral grand final I'd probably tape it and watch it ASAP. I wouldn't be in the greatest mood at the wedding though so god help anyone who gave away the score.

Females will generally never understand the difference between watching a game live and watching it the next day or hours later - they are a lost cause with this.

Your best bet is to come up with an analogy females can relate to, something like the be all and end all of shopping.
Sorry dear I'm not really up for it tonight... I'm going to watch the TV tonight while you "play with yourself"... don't worry. I won't miss any of it as I'm taping it and I'll watch it tomorrow.

What do you mean? Pornography? Bull$h!t. I'm just taping it to watch tomorrow... Of course it's the same...

Gawd you talk shit, just as many female supporters certainly know the difference.

Weddings and football don't mix, I know that, you know that.
My wife (fiance at the time) and I were planning our wedding and I was asked when was an appropriate time to get married, I answered, along as it wasn't during footy season, I were happy.
February any good? I were asked, I said yeah.
What date? I was asked.
I thought of my favorite player and said what day is the 25th?
Saturday was the reply, cool, Fevruary 25, Ill never forget my anniversary,
Didn't think of pre season, Fevruary 25 2006, Carlton played geelong in a NAB cup game, I couldn't believe what I had done to my Carlton supporting mates, and felt like mud for doing this to them,

Lucky I had a Blues supporting MC who kept us informed of the score throughout the night..

In the end, we got drunk and didn't care that we got beaten as it was only NAB cup, haha, but if we had have won, NAB cup games were important... :thumbsu:

You don't actually SAY to your g/f that you wouldn't be going. Naturally you BS and say it would have been a great shame to miss the replay if it was a draw... and that Weddings are very special events blah blah blah.... and try and keep a straight face.

My daughter is unfortunately a Doggies supporter & last saturday her father was getting married for the third time. She told him that if the Doggies made the GF, she would not be going to his wedding. :D

No wonder it's his 3rd if he gets married in the footy season. :D (assuming previous 2 were result of divorce)

His second ex took him to the cleaners, can't believe he's stupid enough to do it again.
