I was just wondering say we were to get into the Grand Final or whatever other club around how many tickets do they reserve for club members and who gets entitled to them? I think it's horrible how the ticketing operates when it comes to grand finals but would anyone know how many go on sale to the public(if any) and how do we get them. I know they wont be selling yet but I have no idea about this and im just curious...can anyone help?

Make friends with someone in the know :(

Grand finals tickets are bloody hard to get a hold of. I've been to two grand finals ('98 and '00) and both were through Dad's work.

There's only around 3000-6000 allocated to club members. Those who took out the special addition to the membership at the start of the year have first pick. Ordainary members after that are next off the rank. Any left over are then sold to the public.

The only other way to get in is to line Demetriou's pockets.

It didn't always be that tough. I remember the '87 grand final and walking around the G just before kick-off. Scalpers were selling tickets for $5, about half of the normal home and away entry price.

I didn't realize that. How long has that rule been in place and what constitutes a 'special addition'?

I queued up for tickets to 89, 92, 94 and 95. Iv'e been wondering if queing is now redundant with the ticketmaster online system.

Anyway, I reckon you can always get them if you want them bad enough.

Is it true that country members dont get ticket entitlements? Coz i live in the country so id be pretty *****ed off. I'll do anything to get tix if we get into the final wheather its now or 3 years from now, i dont want to miss us in a grand final! Ive made an agreement with a friend and we dont care if we have to camp out or whatever to get tickets it will b worth it...it's just crappy that so many people have to go to sucha great effort to get a few tickets it gets worse every year!

The special addition (wasn't too sure of the name) is the captain's club. For a $100 on top of your membership, you get guaranteed access to Grand Final tickets if Geelong makes it. You still have to purchase the tickets though. It's been going for a couple of years.

Not too sure about country memberships, although I think you don't have any finals rights.

At an educated guess, I would say that unless you are officially constituted as a member, you would not receive finals entitlements.

The best option would be to get in contact with the club as soon as possible to negotiate some terms with them. The harsh reality is that so many people are after so many limited tickets.

Invariably, there are the supporters who go to every game, but still miss out on tickets, over someone who attends only a few games a year. It's the fickle and unfortunate manner of the ticketing for Grand Finals.

Anyway, here's the dispersion list...

1 - Competing Club Members: 16,962 - 20,732
2 - AFL Clubs (16 x 1000): 16,000
3 - MCC Reserve: 16,959 – 20,727
4 - AFL Reserve: 11,655 – 14,245
5 - AFL/Medallion Club Members: 5,000
6 - AFL Entitlements: 4,050 – 4,950
7 - AFL Contractual Obligations: 1,700 – 2,100
8 - Competing Clubs (2 x 750): 1,500
9 - Cheer Squads (2 x 230): 460

Total = 80,000

These will probably differ slightly come Grand Final day because of the redevelopment.
