Not really comparing them but as for the future, who should be our first main Full Forward option? Grant is said to be better but he's pretty skinny at the moment so IMO he should start somewhere else, Boumann looks a bit stronger so I think he should give FF a shot maybe next year even if it's for 1 game.

From the WB website:

Boumann 196cm - 82kg
Grant 192cm - 80kg

These are probably the figures from the start of the 08 season, but there isn't a huge gap is there?

On top of that Grant (before injured) was probably averaging 2 goals per game in the Williamstown seniors. Boumann played 3 or 4 games in the Willi seniors late in the season and barely touched the pill.

Grant is a fair way in front and would be expected to play in the Bulldogs team early in the 09 season.

Both please. Grant as your Fevola type, smart leading player with great hands at FF. Boumann can play the more rangy, athletic Buddy/Riewoldt role at CHF.

Throw in 50 goals + for each.

Oh, to dream.

In my opinion, Grant should start as an alternate Wing, he is said to be a quick player and at the moment he's a bit skinny, he should play a Richo role for now but then move on to Full Forward. Boumann seems like a decent Full Forward to start off at but I think he needs more development. If not, Half Forward then.

Either way, for now, I'd like Cameron Wight in Full Forward instead of Minson.

I think I read somewhere last week that the Club is really pleased with both their attitudes. Sounds like they've both pulled their fingers out and matured a bit over the course of last season?? Boumann looks to have bulked up somewhat since the start of 08 and hopefully Grant has spent considerable time in the gym too since he's been injured.

Not sure he has the endurance for this type of role. Our best bet on the wings are guys like Hill.

I'd like to see Grant start in a forward pocket type role. With his agility he can probably do similar to what Franklin did at the start of his career. Take a few marks, but more importantly work hard at ground level and at the feet of contests.

Grant is now 194 cm and has the football world at his feet!

He will start on a forward flank next year a will move into CHF in the future.
This guy kicks goals I have seen him at Dandenong play with opposition much the same as I saw Carey do the the same close up!

Be patient and enjoy a Forward line of Murphy ,Hahn ,Grant,Johnson,Milson,Gia,Hill,Higgins,Aker,Griffen,Cooney,Skipper and even Williams smash opposition Backlines like guitars next year. Its called options.

Bouman is 2 years away of being a ver good player(attitude may play a role)

Can you explain why?

So far in my comparisms between the two:

Best Kick for goal: Minson
Best field kick: Minson
Best uncontested mark: Minson
Best contested mark: Minson
Most mobile: Wight
Best at crashing packs: Minson
Who offers more elsewhere: Minson is a B grade ruckman, Wight a C Grade Backman
Most creative: Minson

I struggle to see why you would prefer Wight at full-forward over Minson based on what we have seen in the past. If anybody should be given the spot ahead of Minson who is physically ready it would be Skipper:

Best kick for Goal: Skipper
Best field kick: Skipper
Best uncontested mark: draw
Best contested mark: draw
Most mobile: Skipper
Best at crashing packs: Minson
Who offers more elsewhere: Minson is a B grade ruck, Skipper a C+ ruck
Most creative: Minson

You really don't have much of an idea do you?

Well I like seeing unusual things happen.

From what I've seen of Wight, I prefer his kicking style over Minson's. I'm sure with a little bit of development he could surpass, but hey, I'd be all for Skipper as well... Just as long as Minson... Isn't in the Forward line >_>

Not to familiar with starting young Forwards either, I just heard Grant is quick, I guess you could put him in the Forward pocket, that would work.

Peter Rhode, is that you? Get back to sinking Port Adelaide...

Will Minson is one of the better kicks for goal in the team. Yes he missed 2 getable shots in the pre-lim but he is a reliable kick normally.

And certainly a better shot for goal then Wight.

Do some research, watch some games and come to us with some value.

Minson had his first season as a forward, kicked 20 goals and showed improvement throughout the year. Will he be our answer? Probably not, but having him as our second ruckman and getting a goal a game out of him in the process, instead of sitting him on the bench gives the team flexibility, because we can add another defender, forward or midfielder.

If he plays the same role, and adds 10 more goals to his tally then we have one of the best goal kicking ruckmen in the league.

Anyways, back to your original post, both haven't shown a great deal yet. Bouman has been able to dominate a game or two at VFL reserves level, but he has a long way to go before he can produce that at a level where he deserves to get a game. Grant if he has a big pre-season could be a wild card if he gets his OP right. IMO we need to put him in the side and give him a baptism of fire. Other clubs manage to do it, historically we haven't, and I would like that to change.

I agree, Minson is a good Ruckman and for that I reckon he should stay on, it's just his Goalkicking, no I didn't only watch the Geelong game, I have watched quite a few others and I suppose this is only my opinion really or how shall I say, perspective. It seems his goalkicking is a bit... I dunno, he just tries to kick straight, and as a result, it either goes straight or a tad bit off the wrong side of the boot and straight into a behind, the type of kicks I like are the ones that first appear to be a point but then come back as a goal, those types of kickers usually get it through with the wind... You know what, bugger it, pretend I didn't say anything.

For future, where should Grant and Boumann play positions? Like Grant FF or HF, same with Boumann.

Tempo, is that you? Did you get locked up with a couple of lax orderlies who should have been guarding the medical cabinet instead of playing backgammon?

Read through the posts mate.

One of the funniest things I have read on here for a while.....Keep up the good work.;)

Talk about lacking of sense of humor, I can't tell if you think I'm joking or I'm actually stupid. I never thought I'd have to highlight this ._.

Either way, I'd still like to see Wight have 1 shot at Full Forward, Minson is there too often and he's boring.

He's hardly boring, don't you like him crashing packs and smashing the opposition, giving away stupid free kicks etc

I originally thought you were Peter Rhode, but now I know.

You ARE Cameron Wight.

I wish all Bulldog people would let the Cameran Wight thing go!
This thread was about a positive topic Bouman or Grant and again we have to here this crap about Minson and Wight!

Lol, it is only my opinion anyway.

Anyway, Jarrad Grant starts at Forward Pocket and Boumann starts at Left Half Forward.

I struggle to see why Boumann would be moved into the senior line-up given that his best football was when he was playing in the Williamstown reserves.
Grant missed a large chunk of football so I can understand the temptation to get him into the side but other than being tried in the pre-season comp, he still has a lot to prove.

I know, Grant needs a big Pre-Season and Boumann needs a couple of years to improve. I mean when they get their first games, what position will they be playing.
