Look, I know this will be shot down.
But we do have to admit that it was an epic which has probably surpassed Showdown I as Port Adelaide fans' favourite moment.

ANd to create something amazing, it takes 2 to tango. Would our win in the 97 prelim be great if the BUlldogs didn't show up? No, if that happened it would've been the 98 prelim all over again.

But it was a great game from some of our players. Crouch was best afield for mine (from both teams), Grigg stood up well and played great. Danger and Johnston 4 goals. Jacobs' best game for the year and probably my 2nd best player on the day (well, up until the clanger mark attempt which turned the game)

It was a great game, and for anyone to say anything else has lost their touch of the game.

Congrats Port for those who are stalking our boards hoping for a meltdown. You outplayed us :thumbsu:

Really?

Dude we blew it.

Would've been good from a neutral's perspective I guess.

Crouch was excellent but Wingard was easily BOG.

I thought it was a good game. It's just that one of our players is a practising Satanist and god found out.

The centre bounces in the last 5 minutes were appalling nonetheless.

Yeah, first quarter, all us except for literally a couple of mins where they kicked 2 goals.
Second quarter, yes they outplayed us
Third quarter all us
Last quarter a fight which we were winning to get 4 kicks up, with 5 mins left that should have been game over.

Nuh, when the game was there to be won in the last 5 minutes, Port grabbed the game by the scruff of the neck.

I think I could hear someone saying "A clearance! A clearance! My kingdom for a clearance!"

Definitely was a great game and some very promising signs for the future from both sides in that.

Lots to look forward to next season, just a couple of bugs that need ironing out and of course some luck wouldn't go astray.

Touchy? If I'd made a similar remark on your board past few years I would have been carded
Doubt it. Everyone on the port board is well aware of how shit we were. Calling us average however is a bit rich. We're not top 4, but we're certainly closer to it atm then you guys are.

You didn't have to put up with Dwayne, but we had to put up with Bruce and his blatant barracking for Adelaide. His comment about Wingard winning the medal in a losing side was a premonition. Crouch was good, no doubt, but Wingard...20+ touches and five goals, with the last being the match winner. In a close game that is decided by under a goal. That's Ablett-esque.

I would say that Adelaide outplayed us in the third and most of the fourth. But you let the foot off the gas too early when you thought it was in the bag. Kind of like North did to you guys early in the season. When that happens, you can't wrestle the momentum back, because it becomes about not losing instead of winning. So while you left the door open, it was up to us to step through. An average team doesn't do that.

No we had Tim (I ******* hate the Crows) Watson.

Most anti Crows biased commentator ever.

Wtf? Watson isn't even close to being the most anti-Crows commentator. Dwayne Russel and Paul Roos would be way ahead in the pecking order.

If anything, I'd say Watson is one of the more level headed commentators.

He couldn't believe Grigg's impact on the game.
