I noticed how you went from being supremely confident that Fev wasn't going anywhere to suddenly wanting to wring his neck after reading about him talking himself up at the Fennech fight and decided best give you some space to vent and cool off.
The two aren't mutually exclusive though.
I still am confident that he is going nowhere. He won't screw us and leave for nothing, and no-one could trade for him IMO.

After the news over what he said, I was pissed. I'm still pissed. I would be happy enough if we did trade him as I think as a team we would do quite well out of it for all the reasons I mentioned in the thread I started.

This doesn't mean I think he will go.

My take, as I've posted in another thread, is that Fev is just being Fev -he loves to talk it up, whatever 'it' may be, and to whoever is prepared to listen (opposition cheer squad, chad cornes, heath shaw in recent weeks).

IMO It wasn never even about holding the club to ransom for more $$$, it was more about being so excited about it that he just couldn't hold it in.
We will agree to disagree.
IMO Fev has seen his management in the past get extra bucks out of the club by starting rumours about other clubs.......Doggies, Tiges, Saints etc.

IMO he decided, in the sharp end of contract negotiations, to do the same thing.
I doubt Sydney have made an offer.
They couldn't afford him trade wise or money wise without hacking into their list or players payments........just to get a guy who struggles on smaller grounds and is ego centric...........not a good fit for the Swans.

Fev made it up in a rather clumsy audition to be a player manager in the future.:o

I don't believe there's anything at all sinister in it, Carlton is where his heart is and after putting up with our last 6 years of misery, there's no way an elite talent like Fev is going to risk losing the opportunity to play out his career in a team challenging for flags. I have no doubt that he's going to stick around to hold up cup # 17 and he'd be one of the most deserving players on the list to do it too.
Agree in that I don't think he meant to piss anyone off. He just tried to do what he thought was good business.
He's never been his own best PR representative, but we've always accepted that as part of the package that is Fev. Nothing's changed here: same old same old...and I'm used to it by now, and I accept his shortcomings as a very small price to pay for his talent and the rest of what he brings to the club.
I guess I hope that he may still improve as a person and a footballer and get frustrated when he fails me.

He does love the club, and Scwharz on SEN claims to have spoken to Fev today and said Fev told him, he loves the club, doesn't want to go anywhere, and as soon as Icke is back from Ireland they will sign the new contract.
I also derive some sinister pleasure out of watching all the Chicken Licken's scampering around for shelter anytime Hutchy 'breaks' the big story that the sky is falling :D

The Hutchy thing I thought was bogus, so didn't really care, until it came to light that Fev was actually behind it.........that I didn't appreciate.:D

We will agree to disagree.

I can't agree with that :p

I'm actually quite confident that Fev is going straight from CFC to the NFL, after which he won't have to work again in any capacity.

This is all crap, of course Fev won't leave, this is probably his last major pay-day big contract for his career, and you can understand why he wants to get the best possible deal for him and his family ... He's got a couple of kids to feed ...

Fev has constantly said he wants to stay at Carlton, he loves the club and his teammates, but he also has his family and life after football to consider ...

Greg DUMB-HAM is one of those gossipy, sensationalist journos that constantly gets his facts wrong ... No wonder he writes for the worst rag in the land (The Australian)

Oh and his voice is very annoying as well.

What Greg said about Fev could go to the PSD is true, If (a BIG IF) fev and Carlton dont see eye to eye and FEV wants to go to Sydney, Carlton will be forced to trade with Sydney, or else Fav would go into the PSD with a high price and Carlton get nothing..

Remember U guys got Stevens for nothing, Port refused to deal with Collingwood.

Well the Western Bulldogs would've got him if they rescinded their commitment to take Jade Rawlings.

If I had to guess which club had more room in the salary cap out of Melbourne and Sydney... I'd guess Melbourne.

WCE minus Judd and Cousins.........I'm sure they'd have some room as well........and about 10 other clubs would MAKE room.:thumbsu:

Way to completely miss the point. :o

We had pick 2 when Stevens was available.
Do you think if we hadn't taken Stevens he would have made it to pick 10 or 12?

That's the point.
Fev could go into the PSD if we don't come to terms. A superstar like Fev WILL NOT BYPASS 10 OTHER TEAMS AND LAND IN SYDNEY FOR NOTHING.

ANYONE WHO SUGGESTS THIS COULD HAPPEN IS AN IDIOT.

Hence the whole point of the thread.

Clear?

Personal abuse to get your point across shows your lack of knowledge

Port refused to Deal with Collingwood. Steven went into the PSD. Carlton got him for nothing.

Fev can put a high price and a long term contract that only Sydney can pay.. Sydney Salary has the cost of living factored into it.

Even if another team gets Fev in the PSD. Carlton would have lost Fev for nothing in return..

That is the point.

PS: I think Fev will stay at Carlton..

Actually personal abuse to get the point across is only used when you show the inability to comprehend basic things, such as what you have done here.

Fact - Sydney traded Schenider and Dempster last year to ease salary cap pressure - i.e. their cap is FULL right now. Get it?

So they all of a sudden will be able to outprice WCE who have the void of Judd and Cousins from last year?

This is the basic logic and reasoning that lacks and hence, Denham is dumb.......and you.....despite having this pointed out again and again........well.......maybe I need to reowrk the poll. :o

Not of this thread it isn't.

Yes, any idiot with a basic understanding of the AFL knows that if he remains out of contract that he COULD go into the PSD for nothing.
That isn't the point. It was never the point.

The point is......and has been from the start......that the best FF in the country (arguably) WILL NOT SLIDE PAST 10 OTHER TEAMS AND END UP AT SYDNEY.

Clear? Do you get this?

Show me a precendent......... show me a genuine superstar that has been taken in the PSD past pick 4.

Sydney would have to put a massive price on his head, and to make that sort of room they would need to delist 2-3 very good players.

All this, and they don't even want him - small ground and poor discipline. Fev is a poor fit........but that isn't the point.

was a silly comment by denham, although he does hold a dear place in my heart as he broke the news that the judd trade was done sending me into uncontrollable ejaculation.
KB is a flipping legend. i listen to SEN all day at work and KB is a dead set pisser once you understand his smartarse pisstaking ways.
Fev aint going nowhere and im not bothered if he wants to leave as well get good compensation for him and open up the salary cap a bit for future contracts.
I know G. Swann & S. Icke will sort it all out

Actually, i think you're showing quite of a lack of knowledge yourself :o. What BB is saying is correct.

As if Fevola is going to slide past 10 sides in the PSD. It just isn't going to happen. There will always be a club that could afford him.

Going by your logic, if Stevens wanted to go to Collingwood so badly he would have 'put a price on his head' that no other club could afford - so why didn't he do it?

BECAUSE IT'S NOT PRACTICAL.
