Has anyone heard anything coming out of the meeting between clubs last night to discuss the move to join the Picola league.

A few of quambys played at other clubs. There weren’t many locals to end up at other clubs though!

Thanks, more thinking committee, sponsors and supporters. As much as people love their individual clubs how long do these clubs last if they don’t merge.

I was told there are about 5 or 6 still playing in the GR at the moment. 2 went and played in a premiership at Kerang and Collicoat has been a good player at Woorinen.
That’s senior players, not sure about juniors or reserves

Wandella online vote opens tomorrow, by the look of the email I was shown they are pushing hard for Central Murray.

Wandella cant compete in the central murray, they are probably the 5th best side in the golden rivers.

Picola said it's all 5 clubs or none, Apparently Wandella are a No, so everyone else is a no by default

What's the reasoning for this? Seems overly restrictive.

The idea is actually logical.

All five could form a Picola "North-West" division with the potential addition of other clubs such as Blighty or Deni Rovers or Mathoura to eventually have eight clubs. If only one or two clubs came over, there'd still be a one-division competition and there would be an obscene level of travel for some clubs.

From what I heard is why clubs like Wandella don't want to play in the Picola League as its not affiliated with VCFL and path way for kids are not looked at.. So if they played there this year, kids like Archie Lancaster wouldn't be playing Pioneers

Surely thats a furphy from afl north vic, plenty of good juniors have come from picola clubs, also how many wandella juniors have made the pios squad in 30 years.

Yes but Picola league a 2 years ago withdrawal them from the Vic AFL alliance. So the league doesn't have to follow the rules of the Vic AFL, Buy doing that no juniors from that league can represent playing in the Under 18s representation
