nonsense. Wood had done SFA last year, the comparisons were widely done showing he hadn't really outperformed Meesen by any significant margin.

Agree, when they went head to head, Meesen had more hitouts, a better hitout to advantage ratio and had more possessions and they pretty much spent the same amount of time on he ground. Griffin has shown a hell of a lot more than Wood and hence should command a pick equal to or higher than Wood.

For mine Griffin is not untradeable, if the right price were to come up, if not then we keep him, simple as that, I just wonder how Maric and Griffin would go both in the same team, they both would probably play their best footy given about 70% game time, rather than 50% each and you wouldn't have 1 of them in the side for just 30% game time.

For mine, especially if Moran and Tippet, as is looking exceedingly likely next year, are both in the side, the best set up would be either Griffin or Maric rucking for the majority swapping with either Tippet or Moran when they need a break. If one of these 2 were to go down then yes I'd bring the other in, but if all 4 are fit, I only see one of Griffin and Maric in the side.

I think it's entirely feasible for us to field all four of them in the side at once, in a few years time. The Kangaroos have played a large quartet of McIntosh, Hale, Petrie and Thompson when they were all fit, seems to have worked well for them and not one of those big men could really be called athletic.

I will pose this for you blokes to think about.

We go ahead and trade Griffin for peanuts and then young Tippett says hell I want to go home and take megabucks from GC. How would you feel then?

Rule#1 in football, with bigmen of any class, a club must make sure they keep unless the club has 2 to replace 1.

We need to keep all 4 if we can.

IMO Wood is very much over rated

however, I have also just got back from Perth and the street talk in Perth is Freo will make enquiries about Griffin during trade period.

Freo would be negligent not to.

But it doesn't mean he wants to leave - if they want him, they can pay for him.

Pick 8-15 would be about right.

We'll got Thommo for probably our 3rd rounder anyway, so it's not worth giving Griff away in any deal like that.

Yeah agree if we don't have any other key forwards and Moran and Tippet are pretty much holding those positions down, but if a couple of Gill, Hentschel, Walker, Stevens, Sellar are in the side also then we wouldn't need a dedicated 2nd ruckman, this could more than adequately filled by Tippet or Moran, leaving us another spot to fill with a dedicated KPP or midfielder. Craig's big thing is versatility, I just don't see him playing 2 dedicated ruckman when we could get away with 1 and just have the 2 other 200cm beasts who predominantly play KP but won't give too much away by playing in the ruck.

I also feel that in the next 1-2 years, Griffin and Maric will begin to enter their prime as ruckman and as such won't want to be spending 50% or less of their game time in the ruck.

Now if Moran and Tippet say turn out to be our best KPF options for example and we don't want to take them away from that, maybe we do go for all 4, but at this stage I see the most likely situation being 1 + Tippet and Moran and I think this could work really well and as such, if the right price came up for a Griffin or Maric for that matter ie 1st rounder at the very least, then I'd be inclined to take it if we thought we could improve our squad and fix another problem area, if not I'm all for keeping both.

Without googling it, he must have played 20 games (to Meese's one) and had a rising star nomination. That is more than Meesen.

Now, Collingwood MAY have overpaid, agreed.

Regarding Moran, I don't feel he's shirked the contact so far, and he comes from a rugby background, so it has certainly seemed to my eyes that he hasn't minded it when it gets tough.

Anyone complaining about Moran's hardness at the ball is being pretty petty, I mean its nowhere near Jericho levels of contest avoidance.

Not so much his 'hardness' but more his intensity.

I wanna see him iron some guys out.

Don't worry, if he hangs out with Ivan over the break he'll be a killing machine next season.

Should be compulsory for everyone (hanging out with Ivan..) a week each for everyone??
