Group Interveiws?

I have an interveiw next week with a local council and have been informed that it's a group interveiw where there is a presentation, quiz and then a short one on one interveiw with all the applicants. I have only vaguely heard of them and am entering this with a small degree of trepidation. Has anyone participated in one before? What are they like?

The group interviews I've been to have been fairly informal. When I've been what's happened is basically someoone gives an overview of the company, then a few staff members talk about their jobs and what to expect, then usually we'd all split up into groups, and a staff member would lead each group and ask a few questions and maybe get you to answer some scenerio type questions. Never been to a group interview where I've had a one on one interview, that's the next step after the group interview.

Did a group interview for Dreamworld once. Everyone had to get up and talk about themselves for 2-3 minutes. It was a group of about 30, and there were highly qualified people like accountants and ex-bankers. I still can't work out why they would be wanting a job a Dreamworld.

Their rubbish in my opinion, promotes everyone to act like a peacock and I can't see how it seperates candidates.

You'll be lucky if one interviewer rocks up, let alone a group of them.
