I thought he played a pretty reasonable game tonight. Showed a bit of impovement in the ruck and got a few more touches around the ground. Hopefully he will continue to get better leaving Fraser and Rocca in more suited positions. Thoughts on his development?

I thought he was ok yesterday, and his ruck work and around the ground is improving, which is good.

however, he needs to be smarter in the ruck. Plenty of times his tap outs went directly to the opposition. Not only is rucking about winning the tap, its also tapping the ball to the right spots.

However....he will get better, and it would be good to have Josh as a permanent roaming forward.

played a good game, deserved his cheer when he got off the ground in the last Quarter.

certainly did, even though he did get beaten in the ruck (19 hitouts) to Blake and Knobel (comined 30 odd) but he played a good game around the ground. His technique has improved in the centre square, but if he is winning the hitouts he needs to find McGough or Woewodin in the hands instead of palming it down into space.
Steven McKee has to come back this week, it is the last roll of the dice for his career IMO. With Josh out for 1-2 weeks on the sidelines, he has to be put back in the side to share the duties with Guy. Rocca cannot keep working in the ruck, we need to have Tazza and Pebbles together inside 50 as tall targets.

It's 21.

Lonie_from_50 you say all up he got beaten, but really Guy rucked all day on his own, just about when knoble and Blake had about half the ground to cover because of increased rest time on the Bench, I don't think he was beaten at all.

Guy wasnt beaten, he was also good around the ground (ala Josh) and his tackling was great. McKee wont be back, Mick had a chance to put him in a few weeks ago when he was close to BOG. Richards is the way of the future and if he needs a rest in the ruck, Mick will throw in Rocca, C Cloke and Walker before he gives McKee another run in the seniors.

Richards played well, but he was up against some non-ruckmen (I heard someone say their second ruckman was 189 cms?).

Still he used the ball well and generally tapped it to our advantage, and followed up nicely on a couple of occasions. It certainly wasn't our fault the opposition brushed our midfielders aside like flies and sharked most of the balls.

Agreed. He was just OK.
He did well in the 3rd Q.

He has a bad habit of not looking at the Ball when he runs in for the centre bounces. He looks at the opposition ruckman as a result he misses the tap or if he gets the tap he misses our on ballers.

But he is getting better and that is all you can ask of a player.

Although it is difficult for a ruckman to tap the ball to our midfielders when our midfielders are getting caned in every position, which pretty much happened Saturday from the little bits I saw.

I think a Guy Richards and Cam Cloke combo could serve us well in years to come. We have to play both for the rest of the year.
