I have had 2 and I am clastrophobic.
A very scarey experience because its like what I would presume being in a submarine torpedo shoot.
Very scarey and whats worse its for 45 mins.
Best advice I can give is to just fall asleep thats what I did and it makes it allot more tolerable.

Did they give you sedation or offer it?
How badly claustrophobic are you, Sab?

BTW, Fred can I infer from that, you think I have a rational mind? :p [/B]

I thought long and hard over that but couldn't come up with another way to phrase it.
Remember though that it makes you one of "those". :)

And you're probably right about not understanding. Those without phobias would not understand.

Yes, but do you have a certificate from Mensa?

Used to but forgot where I put it.

Back to MRI's. I've had a couple and didn't realise I was claustrophobiac until then.
The first one was very traumatic, cold sweats shakes etc.
The second one I was sedated, took my own music to listen to while in the machine and used massive mind over matter control and it was bearable.
I recently drove in a very thick fog where I could hardly see the bonnet of the car. That brought claustrophobic sweats too.
No amount of sedation or good music would every get me over my phobia of heights though.

Yes, I know exactly what you are talking about. That happened to me a couple of years ago. I was driving in thick fog and could barely see a few feet in front of me. This of course brought on the fear of being closed in and a panic attack set in. In the end I had to pull up, and called my husband (who wasn't my husband then) and asked him to come and get me. He arrived with his brother who had to drive the other car back while my husband drove my car. Only someone else who suffers from phobias would know what it is like.
