From the following article in today's Age:

http://www.realfooty.com.au/news/news/blues-finding-their-inner-pride/2008/01/31/1201714152472.html

Centre half-forward is the one … that is the biggest position up for grabs at the moment."

Ratten said a range of players from Matthew Kreuzer, Cameron Cloke, Brad Fisher and Richard Hadley could be tried there.

I note that the list of names is not a direct quote from Ratten so I'm thinking that Ratten said Hartlett and Gleeson got it wrong and wrote Hadley?

Yeah you'd hope he was referring to Hartlett.

I know we got away with murder in the Judd deal but I really wish we'd managed to somehow keep Kennedy...

Obviously you can't get too greedy when you're picking up the best player in the comp but with Josh in the side, we'd have a young talented CHF, developing KP backs and gun developing rucks.

Please Hartlett stay injury free and make CHF yours!!!

Sounds like Waite will be playing mainly at CHB this year. I think it's a good move. What do people think?

I think Waite is great @ CHB but would be more dangerous in the forward line.

He definitely provides some much needed stability to our defence until some of our young potential KP defenders (Bower, Austin, Jamison, Setanta etc.) are further developed and as such I accept that he will play most of 2008 in defence. That being the case my only hope is that he is given CHB and left there all year to help him develop more consistency in his game.

Hopefully in 2009 the development of our young KP defenders will allow Waite to return to the forward line where he can become a real matchwinner for Carlton and his time in defence will have then served to improve his all round game.

Yeah, read the article in the paper this morning and was very condused by that. You would certainly think and hope that the article was supposed to say Adam Hartlett and not Richard Hadley.

Technically Ratts didn't quote Hadley's name in the article, so it could've just been Gleeson filling up space by pulling some names out of his arse.
But surely you wouldn't do that deliberately. It would hurt your credibility.
He could have come out with about half of our list which are better suited to CHF.

Firstly - I dont think the Ratts is pinning much hope on Hartlett.
The 2 times I have been to training he has been abysmal.

Hadley has some genuine height to him, very similar to Fish.
The club may find it hard to fit Richard into the midfield and he may be useful across HF supporting Fish.
Still as Rats mentioned there are many options and whoever grabs their chance

Interesting that Setanta was not mentioned as a CHF option.

Regarding Waite I think its a good move to have him at CHB until the other tall backs get some more experience.
When Jammo, Stanta, Bower, Austin etc get more experience Ratts may be more willing to move Jarrod elsewhere.
In the NAB cup last year the backline looked solid with JW at CHB, Setanta at FB and Thornton as 3rd tall back.
That whole structue fell apart when Cloke went down and Setanta was tried as a ruckman.

Maybe we can get by without a genuine CHF for a year or two and let several players have a go - after a year or two it should sort itself out. I think ultimately Kreuzer will make CHF his own and by 21 years of age he'll be in the top three CHFs in the league. If we go down the traditional path in the short-term I'd look at trying Setanta, Aisake, Cloke, Hartlett and Kreuzer, and maybe even Hampson. Hartlett would have to really pull his finger out to make the position his own - he hasn't exactly been setting the world on fire.
