I'd say possibly is a more accurate word to use. What makes you think he would have been better than Taberner / Clarke etc? He has not been playing well in the SANFL. 1 bag of 3 goals against Adelaides rookies and then games with 1 or 0 goals for the rest.

Amazing that 14 goals a game in the Tassie league doesn't equal 14 in the SANFL.

This guy seems to have hype no matter what, I bet you had no idea he was even playing in the SANFL before you threw up that he would be handy. Personally I would pick any of the top 5 goal scorers from the VFL, SANFL or the WAFL before him and whats the bet none of them get drafted either.

Was he getting 14 goals a game in Tassie? We'd have certainly listed him if he was kicking half of that.

Yeah, I was aware that Thorp had left Tassie to play in the SANFL, but wasn't aware what club he was playing for (as I don't follow the SANFL).

I'm not saying we should definitely have picked him up, only that at the time I was in favour of grabbing both Gumby and Thorp, and I thought he might have gotten a couple of games given our forward line issues. You obviously don't agree with me, and we obviously didn't pick him up, so I'm not sure why we are still discussing it.

He was averaging 24 possies and 4 goals a game in the TSL last year. I'm pretty sure he picked up an injury in round 1 in his debut game at SANFL level, although I could be wrong. He was the leading possesion getter on the ground half way through the third quarter with 18 possies and then didn't touch it for the remainder of the game. And since then he's been stationed in the goal square every game and has been averaging around 6 disposals a game.

He was also coach of his Tassie team, says just how professional that league is.

He is an assistant coach at Glenelg.

The Tassie entrant in the Foxtel Cup that beat West Adelaide has a playing coach and the general manager plays too.

Nice to see Schloithe get named in the State squad. A good performance in a State game can kick start a career.

Looks like he might've been dropped for being too much of an Eagle ;)

Haiden Schloithe's uncanny ability to draw head-high tackles has put him on track to replace Rory O'Brien as the WAFL's free-kick king.

The South Fremantle on-baller has won 46 frees in just 11 matches this season.

He has received eight frees in a match on three occasions, including the Bulldogs' heart-breaking loss to Swan Districts last week.

"The umpires are merely applying the letter of the law but there may be a question over whether that is the way football should be played."
