Haileybury 16.17.113 def Brighton 2.6.18

Best for Haileybury was Murray (BOG) who took atleast 20 marks for the game, was unstoppable. Just about everyone for the Haileybury team played well.
Best for Brighton, well no standouts obviously, they played like ********.
Gotta run, will write more later.

Who played on Murray, marston?

Marston played at full back, im pretty sure murray played at centre half forward and he had different opponents on him throughout the day

You cant justify Hailiberys scholarships, at the start of the season in the pactice match they had their top 10 of their scholarship boys out playing rep footy, their 2nds lost by 116 points to brighton, the last round comes and hailbery just get over the brighton team. in both 2s and 1s games, although hailibery won you wouldnt have known, no emotion was shown at all. i think the highlight of my season was when the most respected man in the aps football fraternity congradulated the hailbery coach for ruining the best schoolboy competition in australia. no pride can be taken out of hailiberys premiership, absolute disgrace!!!
who is this man, and he makes a very valid point.

I heard the abodiginals at Scotch are getting racially abusesed by teachers. Some great opportunity that is. Wouldn't happen at Haileybury.

i cant tell if your being racially ABUSIVE yourself or you just can't spell. That particular teacher was sacked the day after, and has been absolutely and utterly destroyed in terms of reputation and name. Its a bit rich you calling them 'abodiginals' with the extenisive racial background of your financially loose institution. back in your box you racist ********, maybe Haileybury should stop buying footy players to win them Premierships, and spend money on, say building an African school like Scotch are doing.

no matter what anyone says, or what there opinions are about the scolarship issues are at haileybury. It should be agreed by everyone that we were the best side this year. Yes we lost to Melbourne, but played our worst football for the year.
It was quite clear, and known by everyone who knows anything about football, that the 2005 haileybury football side was the best in the competition. Facts are Facts, forget winging about scolarships.

Your kidding arn't you, most respected man in the APS, the bloke is a looney, he has no respect for anyone and deserved all the 98 point thumping he deserved on saturday, why would you say that to a premiership coach, you would think he would congratulate him. The bloke is a drop kick not the most respected man in the APS

jesus christ, do we have to ********ing spell it out for you idiots. Yes, the Haileybury 1sts were the best team in the comp, blah blah blah, yes, they won the premiership by beating most people, blah blah blah. HOWEVER, where the problem lies, is in the WAY that Haileybury became the 'best side in the comp' (via scholarships for those under-rock-dwellers)... please do your reading before you post crap comments

sorry that everyone is not as financially privilaged as u but if the kids show interest in coming to Haileybury, the school has the riite to financially help them in achieiving there wish.........

and wat the brighton coach said is an absolute disgrace

Red Pill, you have made your point ad nauseum. Now you are becoming boring. Haileybury won the premiership, OK? Re the Brighton coach! Whatever he thought, his comments were out of order and indicate that he lacks the qualities of an APS Coach. Don't forget all APS athletic coaches invariably congratulated Caulfield year after year on their premierships despite the fact that the School had rendered the competition a non-event. The Brighton Principal should seriously consider a new role for the 1st XVIII coach.

What the Brighton coach said obviously wasn't pleasant and could have been worded slightly more politely. However, there are times when saying the unpleasant things should be acceptable. From what I gather he had a go at a man who allowed the destruction of a highly prestigious competition by letting in to his program almost an entire team of scholarship holders. Again, the comments weren't polite - possibly not said at the best time - but let us not forget what Haileybury did to the competition. On this one I'm on Brighton's (and the rest of the APS') side.

Centre Half Back, while you agree with his sentiments, you concede his comments were badly worded and said at the wrong time. You are virtually agreeing with me: his suitability as an APS coach must be open to question.

hahaha mate u have got to be joking, do u even know wo the brighton coach is??? he has coached the aps team the last couple of years, and is considered by like everyone as the best coach in the aps. Suppose you didnt know hes also a recruiter for richmond, played afl himself, and is on the panel that chooses the tac cup all australian team. Brighton would be nowhere without him, get your facts straight before you pay him out.

Haileybury is doing to APS competition what clubs like Carlton did to VFL(AFL) prior to the introduction of the draft and the salary cap - and this sort of 'buying a flag's why the then VFL introduced those measures.

Someone tell me - what happens to the full fee paying students who come up through year 7 (or before) at Haileybury, and are the backbone of the under age teams, when they get to years 11 & 12??? They get dumped.

What incentive is there therefore for them to play footy in the lower levels, knowing that unless they are superstars they will never represent their school at the top level, because the 'ring-ins' will displace them.

What of the parents paying mega$$ throughout the senior school years??? They would feel pretty ********ed off I would imagine when

(i) their boys who have put in for years get dumped, and;

(ii) the scholarships are offered purely on football ability - presumable at least some of the scholarship funding comes from general revenue which they subsidise.

Depends I guess what are the KPIs of a school:

- just rewards for years of effort vs a premiership flag??

- all round learning vs realising that a few elite get special treatment??

I know where I would rather send my kids.

I was not querying his football knowledge or coasching skills. It was his after-match comments that made me wonder whether he should be coaching.

Why the hell would someone 'underprivileged' wanna go to Haileybury. If they are studiously gifted, they would get picked up by one of the many other private schools more academically aware than Haileybury and put on a specialised scholarship to help people who would otherwise not be able to go. If the suggestion is that they need the scholarship to continue their footy career, thats bull********, as many people have said on bigfooty, comps like the TAC cup are given much more weight in the drafting of AFL players etc.

this is just the same as the academic competition that is the VCE, everyone knows that MacRobertson is gonna go best each year because they select their girls. that is taken into consideration and other schools aren't put on an equal playing field with them. in this fashion, the like should be done with Haileybury.
