I love the big guy but he has been out of the game for a lot of weeks this year and it shows. I can't see him working back into form for another month or so and I don't think he should be doing it at the expense of the Seniors. Is there anyone in the Reserves who could take his place or will we just have to ride it out?

Grundy:p

Seriously though.... You'd have to be joking?

You can't honestly believe that we're better off without him in the side.

This is a difficult one;

If we move Grundy forward our backline falls apart.

Yet we desperately need him forward

Does he have a sister ? surely she can hold up the defence like he did tonight ?

I think it's possible that while he's getting back up to speed we could be better off without him (we were better without Plugger during his "comeback" season) but recent promotions from the Reserves indicate that perhaps we're lacking depth?

Bit harsh considering most of the depth has been injured (Fosdike, Davis, Schmidt, Barlow etc.)

form of a man who has had a handfull of matches in ten weeks, more important is how our dual brownlow medalist keeps on lowering his colours without a fight whilst kirk rok and others bust their gut

He simply shouldn't be playing. It's obvious he has lost his pace and isn't capable chasing.

It's fairly obvious he's buggered ... or recently dumped. Certainly one of the two.

With sexpo on at the moment, my money is on the former.

Apparently, this injury presents in a similar fashion to the previously 'diagnosed', Osteitis Pubis

I thought he was solid you just hate him because he kicks the ball long

but show some heart desperation he just looks terrible, I know that if he has op then he can't run his opponents to the ground but surely he can tackle and stay on his feet
OP can affect a player in a remarkable amount of different ways. OP is different for all ppl... some can't sprint at top pace, some can't take off without pain, some can't turn or sidestep, others can do all of this without pain but can't kick... and many other combinations

I'm unsure if you're playing with your tool or you just are one!

Barry has to learn to play all over again. Its a bit like when the hands in the back rule came in. He was very tenative in the one on one's with Rutten who is a very good fullback. I agree with the other poster, it was a terrible week to bring him back in. Not that we had much choice.

ride it out always struggles with rutten don't know why we brought him back tonight our forward line would have worked better without him
It was fairly clear Barry was very tenative for most of last night.Putting him on the ball ,around more bodies, crashing & bashing clearly wasn't an option.I don't know that you can question his "form'.On the one hand you say that Rutten is a guy he struggles against.I agree. But on the other hand you sem to be questioning his "form' based on his 1st game back.Bit harsh?
Clearly, Roos' hand was forced, with injuries to Micky O & Davis(if he was uninjured I wonder how close he would have come into consideration before Barry).& then you had Henry gone down & as Roos stated post game he had to play Barry for longer than he planned.Another interesting test next week on the hard, fast Manuka surface.
My worry going into the Blues game was our lack of tall targets,(DJ was excellent, though)& it was clear again last night we struggled there. But the worrying thing for me last night was the inability to hit our targets -short or tall & the ease with which Adealide ran it back at us on the turnover.
